His dad wants a job and isn't getting interest. Why? He seems like he would be a good fit here.

I would love to have WP with us. He is limited as a HC but excellent as a coordinator. But it appears that will not happen.

Yeah I don't understand this. He is tremendous at implementing a 3-4. When Houston picked him up they transitioned into a dominant 3-4 D extremely quickly. JJ Watt sure had a lot to do with that, but still.

I still maintain that Haslett is a good defensive coordinator if you give him some talent to work with. But Phillips is on another level.

I hate when relationships get in the way of making the best decision.

Horton is still the best DC available

I think he's probably referring to a HC position. If so, his dad sucks as a HC. If he's talking about just any job, I agree with him. Wade Phillips is one of the best in the business as a DC.

From the article:
Quote:
Phillips wrote on Twitter that he is “Disappointed” he hasn’t received so much as an opportunity to interview for a defensive coordinator position. Phillips noted that he has a wealth of experience in the NFL, and the last five times he was hired as a defensive coordinator, the team that hired him made the playoffs in his first year on the job.(emphasis mine)
I don't really understand it either, given that Monte Kiffen at 73 is still the DC of the Cowboys, it doesn't seem like age should be a factor.

Wade is a beast at the DC position and he would be a dream if he landed here
