Well, Fred probably got his "supplements" in Colorado. Perhaps in brownie form.

Speculation that Ray Rice might be cut.

It's ESPN, so take it however you want.

Baltimore Ravens face tough decisions with Ray Rice - ESPN

Quote:
The Ravens are in a lose-lose situation with Rice.

In most instances, teams gain salary-cap room by cutting a player. But, the way Rice's contract is structured, the Ravens would lose $5.5 million in cap space by parting ways with Rice because of the pro-rated bonuses that would have to be absorbed. To put that in context, that $5.5 million is more than what the Ravens saved when they signed linebacker Terrell Suggs to an extension Monday.

The Ravens could designate Rice as a post-June 1 cut, which would create $4 million in cap space in 2014. The problem is, Rice would count $9.5 million in dead money in 2015, which is a large chunk for a player not on the roster. Anyway you look at it, the Ravens lose a significant amount of cap space if they decide to cut him.
They'd be foolish to cut Rice after one offense, though it IS a major offense in my eyes. But, if he does face a suspension, he's an expensive player to have on the shelf.

I've been telling Ravens fans I know that they're going to regret paying Flacco so much. He hit the jackpot timing-wise with his contract but it's going to hurt this team for years to come. Look at the Giants since they paid Eli, downward slide and they can't afford to even protect him or give him RBs any more. The same thing is happening to the Ravens, who have little cap room now and may face losing Arthur Jones, Jacoby Jones, Michael Oher, Dennis Pitta, Daryl Smith, Corey Graham...and possibly Ray Rice after unloading a lot of talent last season.

Rice sucked last year but he's a good player. I'm not sure they could do better than him.

Salary Cap 130 million instead of 123 million. How much more quality can we get with 7 million more in salary cap space?

Should help us get someone like Eric Decker or Jeremy Maclin instead of Brandon LaFell or Riley Cooper.

We need to add someone who can return the ball too, maybe McCluster or Jacoby Jones.

It's not about going on a spending spree cause we've all seen how well that's worked around here. It's about getting the right guys who fit your blueprint. Not really even sure we have a true blueprint. But I would say no thanks to Raji, Peppers and Decker.

It was not expected to be 123, it was expected to be 126 and change.

It's a 3.5M boost in cap space, not 7M.

im not buying on decker. it may be short sighted of me but i think peyton makes guys look better than their ability really is and im weary of guys playing with great people around them and expecting their production to not drop with a new team.

kinda like linebackers with the ravens. i dont think bart or kruger have lived up to the expectations after they left the ravens.

I also thought the same about Garçon, BUT the Decker argument is a little different in that he also plays with Welker, D Thomas, and J Thomas.

If we can get a guy I would like it to be Edleman. No to Cooper and no to a big contract for Decker.

Edleman in the slot with Garçon and Hankerson/Robinson on the outside sounds pretty good to me.

dang, yeah the garcon card is a great rebuttal to the "peyton cures cancer" argument. i can hedge it a bit with the opinion (like you said) that decker had a better receiving corps than garcon with the colts. but you can hedge that with the argument that decker then had to share more touches with the other bronco receivers. my intellect is truly dizzying.

truth be told i didnt think garcon would be this good or this physical.

Decker is going to want crazy money. I'd stay away from that.
LaFell would be my main target in FA.
Cooper would be nice too.

Cue the ridiculous, "Not Cooper, because he is racist" comments.

I agree with you, Cooper would be nice.
