I disagree with your second paragraph; a 15 yard defensive PI penalty is a bad idea. One example why: Garcon is 50 yards out, running a deep route. Brandon Carr is trying futilely to cover, but is too far behind to play the ball. So he dives at Garcon and tackles him before Garcon has a chance to haul in the pass. Carr, in this hypothetical situation, would be doing the right thing for his team, since the 15 yard defensive PI penalty would be better than the 50 yard completion. Whereas how defensive PI is penalized now, that wouldn't happen, since the ball is placed where the infraction happens.

Well, while I agree a kickoff from the 40 yard line is silly, without kickoffs there is no possibility for on-sides kicks. In many games, eliminating kick offs would significantly change the dynamic of the end game.

DeSean Jackson mess getting messier.

A few days ago:

A source close to DeSean Jackson tells the Philadelphia Daily News that D-Jax wants to finish his career with the Eagles, and would be "really hurt" if he were traded for "no reason."

I wouldn't want him after that if he's going to be pouting about getting ditched by Philly.

Yesterday:

Coach Chip Kelly has reportedly called DeSean Jackson and told him not to worry about the intensifying trade rumors.

This whole mess started right after the Eagles' playoff loss to the Saints, when Jackson suggested that he deserves a new contract just one year after inking a $47 million deal. Then came reports that the diva is not a fit in the locker room or Kelly's scheme, and then came free-agent deals for Riley Cooper and Jeremy Maclin. Still, Kelly loves playmakers, the Eagles have plenty of cap room and Cooper/Maclin would be a well below average starting duo. We'd be surprised if a trade went down.

Today:

One person close to DeSean Jackson told the Allentown Morning Call that there's "no way" Jackson will return to the Eagles in 2014.

There have been so many conflicting reports on the Eagles' feelings about D-Jax that it's hard to know what to believe. "There is no way he's an Eagle this year," the person close to Jackson said. "However it leaked out, it leaked out, and now this is what you have." Eagles beat writer Nick Fierro predicts "Jackson is out of here for sure, and long before the NFL draft too." Appearing on Sirius XM Radio Thursday morning, ESPN's Sal Paolantonio told host Ross Tucker that "DeSean Jackson's act is wearing thin with Chip Kelly."

Although he had an atrocious year last year and has never been elite, overall Schaub has been a very capable starting QB, with a career QBR of 89.8. I think Oakland is getting a steal.

As for Cleveland, I won't cry if they finish last in total offense.

Considering KC gave up two 2nd rounders for shitty Alex Smith, and yet the Raiders got Schaub for a late round pick? Hell of a steal.

Oakland seems to be building up for a run in 2014, which would make little sense in the NFC. In the AFC, it might work.

Any team giving Philly more than a late round draft pick is insane. He's got a pretty big contract, I think it's 10M this yr and he's inconsistent as f*ck. He'll disappear for entire games.
