Finally getting around to watching The Wire. Almost done with season 1 now. It started off a little slow, but by episode 4 or 5 I was definitely hooked. Great show.

The Wire is definitely one of the greatest shows ever. I don't know if its level of detail and realism will ever be matched.

In my opinion, when hbo was running the sapranos, the wire and Six ft under, that was the greatest period of American drama ever on tv. Writing, acting and production was hitting on all cyclinders in everyone of those shows. Television had never seen anything like it before and it inspired so much we see today.

Just an FYI, the second season is generally considered to be pretty weak in comparison, although I myself loved it, but definitely stick with it. The third season is really good, but the fourth season is unbelievable.
I still miss poor Dookie.
