A Russian artillery assault devastated a maternity and children's hospital complex in the besieged southern Ukrainian city of Mariupol, Ukrainian officials said Wednesday.
The Mariupol City Council posted video on social media of the battered buildings. "The destruction is enormous," the council said in a statement. "The building of the medical institution where the children were treated recently was completely destroyed. Information about the affected children is being clarified." President Volodymyr Zelensky said people were still trapped in the wreckage. He urged the West to ban Russia from the skies over Ukraine. "Atrocity! How much longer will the world be an accomplice ignoring terror?" Zelenskyy said in a Twitter post. "Close the sky right now! Stop the killings! You have power but you seem to be losing humanity." The U.S. and its allies have declined to do so because it could further drag the alliance into the war. The West has hit Russia with heavy economic sanctions, and on Wednesday the Kremlin threatened retaliation for the "economic war" it accused the U.S. of waging. A plan for Poland to provide fighter jets to Ukraine was also in doubt after the Polish government said it would give all of its Soviet-built MiG-29 fighter jets to the U.S. –apparently to allow them to be used by Ukraine’s military. The Pentagon dismissed the idea as not "tenable.” “Poland is not a side in this war ... and NATO is not a side in this war,” Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki Morawiecki said Wednesday during a visit to Vienna. “Such a serious decision like handing over planes must be unanimous and unequivocally taken by all of the North Atlantic alliance." https://www.yahoo.com/news/harris-vi...081315764.html Putin bombed the hell out of a childrens hospital ... Link has a video (UAV camera bounces around a bit though) of a tank battle. Video shows a platoon of Russian tanks and couple of APCs engaging something off screen to the left (probably Ukrainian tanks). Shows hit on BMP (starts to burn), a Russian tank advancing and firing and then that tank being hit and destroyed (it's ammo rack exploded) by return fire.

And for those who say who does he go after next, let the sanctions catch up with him. Let the people around him slowly turn away. It is a shitty situation right now. Doesn’t mean you stop seeing the big picture and get stupid.

My vote is its a pussy move. (for whatever worth a random internet person thinks)
I understand denying the no fly zone request bc that creates actual direct conflict. Here, Ukraine pilots go across border, steal some polish Migs and fly them into Ukraine. What the difference btw supplying Javelins and anti aircraft vs old fighter jets? Supplying a different kind of equipment and its all "defensive" as it will be utilized within Ukraine air space. Nato wanted to help in a non direct way .. and the US pussied out. We are going to pussy out this entire thing while letting Putin dictate the terms of engagement. Never again ... what a joke. |
