I think people should consider the idea that maybe the Eagles f*cked up by:

a. Doing very little to keep talented/productive player on their roster

b. Not getting something out of a player that other teams coveted (sh*t, we got at least something out of McNabb and Haynesworth)

c. Not making sure to keep D. Jax out of a division rival (trade him to the Raiders or Browns for a 7th rounder)

Chip Kelly wanted D. Jax out without considering how he's going to make up for his production. I know it's not the same thing, but it sort of reminds me of when McDaniels ran Jay Cutler out of town in Denver b/c he wanted "his guy".

I would like to emphasize this piece in particular. The Eagles became known as a franchise that made all the smart decisions, getting rid of players before they got too old and hit their decline, drafting intelligently and supplementing with free agents, etc. etc. But just as Bruce Allen has come in and provided a major change from the Vinny era, so have the Eagles. They became known for all those smart decisions in the 2000s under Andy Reid and Joe Banner. Now they're under Chip Kelly and Howie Roseman. It's an entirely different administration and they deserve none of the benefit of the doubt that Banner and Reid earned all those years.

There's no reason to think they didn't just do something stupid.

They definitely got over on us on the Mcnabb trade and while this is not a direct trade with us its just to good to be true.

We talk all the time about how somebodys worth a draft pick,Cousins is worth a 2nd,Fred Davis is worth a 4th,etc.I dont know for sure whether the Eagles tried to trade him or not,but how do you not get something in return for this guy? The Eagles know him better than anybody,I dont see any of his Eagles teammates having his back. Like I said it just seems to good to be true, and you know the saying about that.

As far as him doing any returns,I doubt he will.Skins have a long history of not using their best punt returners as punt returners for fear of injury and I've never understood it.

Other teams have used their starters as punt returners,Rod Woodson,Deon Sanders come to mind. You cant control when a players going to get hurt, your paying him the big money so let him do what hes good at.

Skins should have used D.Green as a returner.I can forgive them for not using him in that role in his prime, but he should have been used more.Especially his last yr,he still had the speed, only saw the field in nickel package, there was no reason not to.

Should have used Moss more or DeAngelo Hall last yr when we sucked so bad

Its not completely unbelievable that him and Kelly didnt mesh, or that the Eagles didnt want to pay him. We are paying him less than they would have, plus they do have Maclin coming back. I know as Redskins fans we are always waiting for the axe to fall, but this is actually us hitting the lottery.

How did the Eagles fleece us when we didn't give up any picks??

There's always the chance the Eagles seriously botched this situation. Time will tell.

Just to be clear I wasnt saying the Eagles fleeced us unless.........they are so diabolically clever that they knew by releasing him the skins would pick him up and the cancer they think he is would spread thru our team like wildfire and implode us from within

It just seems too damn good to be true that we could get this lucky to pick up a talent like him for nothing, like maybe he's the Eagles trojan horse

It's a bomb squad with their dog, and one guy has his Skins blanket over him

Re: Redskins Sign DeSean Jackson

A couple of things.

1) Once teams knew that the Eagles possibly would release him, the trade value had to go down. You know he's going to want money, but why take a deal that another team had written that he had made comments about. On top of that why give any pick if you think he will be free. The only team that might have done that was Oakland, but they did it once already for Schaub.

2) I think way too much is made of the former coach issue but only time will make show, or it may never really be known.

3) I think the Skins played their cards real close, and other teams felt like there would be a market and DJax tour. Once he was released, I think the Skins acted swiftly and obviously definitively to make him know he was welcome and wanted here.

4) Kudos to BA especially for working through it without (so it appears) panicking.

That is awesome. Amazing how when I didnt think we had a chance I hated this guy. Now - different story. Those boneheaded plays going into the endzone still bother me, but Im pretty sure I hated him mostly for the fact that he was a great player on a division rival. Oh well hatred is an ugly emotion anyway. He was just misunderstood.
