That's the point, people jumping to conclusions. I'm jumping to conclusions too. We have as much proof Cousins is criminal as we do DJax is a criminal.

Or you know the coach has a major ego. Sorry, time will tell but to me this seems more like the coach wanted him gone then Jackson suddenly going off the deep end.

Sometimes, a lot of times, college coaches don't succeed in the transition simply because they aren't used to dealing with players who are paid more then them, aren't subservient to them like college players are to college coaches.

Jackson has had 3 probowl and six successful seasons and now I am supposed to believe he can't produce or be able to get along in an NFL locker room. Call me skeptical about that.

Just for clarity:
1) No one is saying that Jackson "suddenly went off the deep end." The argument is that DJax has been a jerk for a long, long time.

2) I'm not arguing he can't produce. In fact, if he doesn't put up something like 80-1,200-10, I'll wonder what is going on. The argument against DJax is that he brings dysfunctionality which brings down everyone else.

But let me put it this way: are there any reports of Eagles players defending Jackson? I haven't seen any. But I've seen reports where Philly players have said, "Good riddance."

Chip Kelly just released one of his better players, and not for football reasons, so it's understandable that none of Jackson's former teammates criticized the decision. If Kelly is willing to cut DeSean, arguably their best player, he'd be just as quick to cut anyone not named Nick Foles or LeSean McCoy.

This was before his release, but still, he had some support

Jeremy Maclin has been Jackson's teammate for five years, but he said he has not spoken with his fellow wide receiver since the trade rumors first surfaced. Asked if he wants Jackson back, Maclin said: "I want to win games and obviously DeSean is a very talented player. So I want to win games."

Responding to a different question about Jackson, Maclin added:

"DeSean’s a great talent. That’s undeniable. As far as everything else, he’s come a long way. He’s matured a lot in the NFL. I think that’s part of the process, but it’s not for me to speak on another man’s behalf. So like I said, whatever happens, that’s what we have to roll with."

Riley Cooper spent last season opposite Jackson and seemed to think his teammate did everything Chip Kelly asked of him.

"He’s awesome. I’m in the same room as him every single day," Cooper said. "We’re both wideouts. So I’m with him every day, all day, meeting rooms, on the field. He’s a great player and he’s a good friend of mine. So I want him to stay.

"I felt like he did a great job for us. You all saw him on the field. He put up career numbers and he worked hard in practice, and that’s a big thing for Chip and everyone. You’ve gotta work hard in practice for it to carry over to the game. It’s all about preparation and things like that. And he did a good job of that last year. I’m extremely proud of him. In any case, whatever happens to DeSean, it’s supposed to happen. But I don’t know what it’s gonna be."

Trent Cole is entering his 10th season with the organization. He was perhaps the most supportive of any of the players in regards to Jackson.

"All I can tell you is I think he’s a good person," Cole said. "I think he’s a really good person and he’s a great player. He’s a guy I’ll never forget. When my career’s done, to the end, that’s a guy I’ll never forget. Just the incredible plays he’s made and what he’s done for the Eagles.

So Jackson is a bit of a malcontent. Every NFL has guys that have issues. Dez Bryant hit his own mother and needs to be baby sat 24/7. Yet if he was booted from Dallas, there would be 31 teams picking up the phone for his services.

The coaches have to manage him. I'm 50/50 on whether this works, but the Redskins got a damn good player and didn't give up any draft picks. Plus the contract is reasonable. Can't see why anyone is against this move.

Re: Redskins Sign DeSean Jackson

I'm willing to give DJax the benefit of the doubt. Personally, I think the Iggles lost a lot of credibility in this whole situation by keeping Riley Cooper (who is not an outstanding citizen) and by likely being involved in the smear campaign against DJax right before he was released. Let's not forget how Shannahan leaked information to smear the team and RG3 right before he left.

The majority of the media folks (and people in general) can't seem to consider the possibility that maybe the Iggles f*cked up by allowing one of their most talented players (in his prime) to go to a division rival. I would give Kelly the benefit of the doubt if he was an experienced NFL head coach, but I think this may end up being a rookie coach mistake on his part.

I do like that D.Jax is going to be playing with a chip on shoulder. When you look at it, he could have easily gone to Oakland and Buffalo and gotten more money and be THE #1 WR. Instead, it seems that he's willing to forgo that to stick it to the Iggles twice a season.

Re: Redskins Sign DeSean Jackson

So, I'm a little ambivalent about this move. At first, I was skeptical about the signing and concerned about the initial reports about his off feild issues. Then I watched his highlights and was a little less skeptical, and then I saw the contract and was sold. Solid move. Perhaps there is a little bit of a gamble, but we didn't break the bank to take it; with the risk vs. reward along with the potential return on investment ~ I'd say its a no-brainer.

After hearing all the different sides (that have been reported) what I think seems to be true is that DJ has an ego, can be disruptive when he's not happy with his contract, and has friends that have gotten in trouble with the law for gang related activity. That said, I sympathize with the man for looking out for his friends and I don't believe he is a gang banger. As for the other issues, he says this experience has humbled him, the players and coaches made him feel like he was welcome and could come and start fresh and "fit in." I'm hoping that in this situation he can put his ego aside and play to win. Can the team inspire him to? Can Gruden? Time will tell.

One thing is for sure though, his presence on the field with Garçon will be electrifying! I expect he will make a huge difference to this offense, and perhaps it's short lived because he turns out to be the asshole some are claiming him to be, but we won't be that much worse for wear if we have to let him go in couple years.

Here's to DJ finding this to be his true home, to blood letting revenge against his former team, and to this all working out! HTTR!!

If DJax is such a bad teammate why did Andy Reid and the Chiefs show interest in him? BTW, he has not been arrested according to his bio.
