Re: Pick 47 Trent Murphy
Yeah, but most of the FS in this draft FS.
Other than the WR pick, I think BA and JG have done a very good job this year. |

Re: Pick 47 Trent Murphy
They're not exactly identical as far as how you would line them up, but I thought Michael Sam was a little bit better of a player than Trent Murphy was. Sam (and Jackson Jeffcoat, who is in that same class of defensive edge player) is (are) still available in the seventh round.

Murphy was a top 100 player for me, so taking him on the second day isn't a terrible overdraft, given that 100-ish players go on the first two days. It wasn't just Sam that teams were shying away from. A lot of 'Tweener types got pushed down the board. I don't know if Murphy was able to avoid the 'Tweener label, but he didn't get pushed down the board for whatever reason. Some very similar players (including ones in my top 100) who got the label got pushed all the way down to the end of the third day.

Re: Pick 47 Trent Murphy
Why are some people disappointed on Murphy when all he does is make plays.

all some people do is look at the 40 time, most people do not know Murphy had virtually the same time as Mack and Barr in the 10 yard dash and Murphy was quicker than Barr and Mack in the 3 cone drill. I am not saying he is better than Mack, and Barr, just that he is a decent athlete who as you said has a history of being productive. Re: Pick 47 Trent Murphy
Yeah that one made me scratch my head and I'm one of the ones still not sure about Murphy, but at least he has multiple years of production and tape to show his skill, where as Sam only had the one year.

This strikes me as a strange thing to hope for.

Re: Pick 47 Trent Murphy
I like the fact that the skins stayed true to their big board and didnt use kiper's all hype list.
trades like this make looking back on the draft 3 years later a lot more interesting. imo it will be very easy to determine success = is spencer + long > lawrence or bitonio or van noy? im glad we addressed positions of need and i will wait and see what these guys do.

Once he gets on the field I think fans will love him because of his hustle and motor.
