A young superstar with the power of RG3 or Manziel could be quite vulnerable to that, considering today's social media scene. Just me being cynical, but I've wondered before if maybe some in the media made special care to praise Griffin up to a point where people got tired of reading about him, so that when they brought the diva/coachkiller hammer down on him, it would be that much more powerful and accepted that much sooner that RG3 was really a bad guy, not the good guy that they'd got so tired of reading about. Just an elaborate scheme to sell more papers and increase the views on their articles.

Re: Griffin's rep. Not true. Go to any NFL team message board, and begin reading. Pretty much unanimous that RG3 isn't the guy people thought he was coming out of college. And then there's also lots of people who think he went from a nice humble kid out of college, and changed into the "diva" he is now. SMH. It sucks, but it is what it is. Or more accurately in RG3's case, "It isn't what it is, it's what it can be made to look like."

If there was a poll taken rite now - nationwide - about who is more of a diva, problem child, troublemaker, etc etc etc - Manziel or Griff? Manziel would win in a landslide. He is already painted as a bad guy. Manziel has had on and off the field issues. Griff had a falling out of sorts with Shanahan. Said a thing or two after a game that got blown out of proportion.
Maybe his rep (Griffs) isnt as "golden boy" as it was his rookie year, but he is nothing like Manziel.
