anyone know what cincy's def ranked last year? they were 28th in yardage and points allowed. that doesn't sound like a great defensive team to me compared to buffalo being ranked 2nd in yards allowed and 5th in points allowed. yes lewis did a good job coaching cinnci last season, but the main reason lewis had so much success last year with his team was the emergance of rudi johnson, chad johnson, and a career year for john kitna.

in 2002 buffalo's defense was ranked 15th. 2001 they were 21st. i'm not sure which was his first year coaching there though.

I think Gregg Williams is going to make us forget Marvin Lewis. And the thing about Williams is that he's not a risk to bail out for a head coach position after this season, like Marvin was. At least I hope not anyway. We'll see what kind of season he has.

I think Williams, not to take anything away from Lewis. Lewis' D was too complex and structured. I hope with Williams he will use LaVar like he should be used, not just stay and read.

plus another thing i didn't like about lewis' scheme is him having his cornerbacks stick to covering one side of the field each no matter who the wr matchup might be. that gives a high chance of putting your #2 cb in a unfavorable matchup with a wr.
