Yeah I think at the end of they day this is just who he is and we'll have to live with it. Most of the time coaches have to find ways to coach up competitiveness, good luck trying to do it the other way around. As he becomes more comfortable in the pocket he'll take off less.

Fine. Good idea.

Do we know why Griff got called twice for false starts? He was baiting the defense to jump for sure but I saw nothing worthy of a penalty.

That's a good point.

But we won't live with Griff playing this way, we'll die by it. He's got to change.

Re: Gameday Thread: Browns vs. Redskins

Griffin is way off base if he thinks that he can practice one way and then play a different way in games in regard to his scrambling. He has said and shown that he believes in repetitions of correct fundamentals as a passer. Why should repetitions of doing things the right way be any less valuable to him as a scrambler than it is to him as a passer?

Re: Gameday Thread: Browns vs. Redskins

Redskins safety Ryan Clark appeared on Mike & Mike Tuesday morning and claimed to know (what prompted Johnny Manziel to flip off the Skins bench).

"I can tell you what the statement was that set him off. The statement was … This isn't college any more and these people are faster than you are," Clark said. "He didn't like it. That was me cleaning up the statement but that's pretty close to what it was."

Re: Gameday Thread: Browns vs. Redskins

All of this is going to spread through the league. He just told every NFL defender they can get under his skin ... and do so pretty easily. If he thought guys were giving him grief before, he just turned the volume up to 11.

Pittsburg, Baltimore? They are going to eat him alive and spit out his endorsements.

Re: Gameday Thread: Browns vs. Redskins

Ryan Clark also said he didnt care, nobody cares, its football. Something very similar to that. Trash talking has been around forever and its part of the game. I really dont think it rattled him - he was already playing like crap. The whole thing with him flipping off the Redskins bench is really blown out of proportion. What is going to rattle him is when he gets his ass planted in the turf- the same thing that rattles any other qb. It all boils down to skill set and ability and it is way to early to tell if he will have what it takes to make it in the league.

Another point of emphasis regarding rule enforcement. Funny you never see Peyton Manning get called for it.

Dude he was rattled, he admitted as much. He said he lost his composure.

He was basically apologizing for making an obscene gesture on tv. Do you really think the comments/finger changed his game? If he alluded to that than it was because his other option was to say he was plain n simply stinking up the joint.

He said he did a good job holding his composure all nite and had a lapse in judgement and slipped up. In other words sorry good holy people of America for doing that on tv. Lol.
Edit: im not denying that he was rattled, just debating why. I dont believe it was name calling - I believe it was the Skins sacking his ass and the speed of an NFL D. The finger was just extra - Ryan Clarke basically said as much.

Otherwise known as he lost his cool, came undone, or was rattled. Not sure what else you call it. They guy is immature as evident by his on and off the field behavior. Not exactly a leader or what you expect from a 1st rd pick. When Johnny doesn't get his way he throws a tantrum.

But he didnt throw a tantrum. Ryan Leaf threw a tantrum. Ryan Leaf showed the world he was a strait up head case that couldnt handle being an nfl qb. Manziel is a smug cocky punk, but not a head case. Even when he flipped off the bench, he was headed back to the huddle, and getting back in the game, and was like oh by the way eff off. Does he have the physical skill set to make it in this league? I dont know. However I dont see it as a Ryan Leaf thing at all.
