Yea hes just gotta use his instincts and let it rip like he used to. He has been hesitating. But last game he didnt hesitate and he threw the pick to Haden he rifled that one quick. So here we see hesitation, there we see an itchy trigger. Man i hope he shows up week one. Hes had a few good throws he takes heavyyyyy critisim its ridiculous.

He will show up in week 1, he will use his instincts, and he will let it rip. He will be helped a lot by a game plan that will be tailored to what he does best.

After he plays well in Game 1, I will call his most vocal critics on this board a bunch of short-sighted, faithless cry-babies.

p.s. - In the unlikely event that I'm wrong and he plays poorly, those same critics will rip me a new one and I will start to worry about his play.

Re: Ravens v. Redskins Gameday Thread

It will anger me if the NFL fines and suspends Meriweather for the head-to head hit. I don't think he did anything wrong on the play. He was plenty low but the RB lowered his head at the last instant which is what caused the h-to-h hit.

I think the NFL is doing a terrible job of officiating this rule. The offensive player bears some responsibility for protecting himself, as well. This penalty should be reviewable and if the offensive player contributed to the h-to-h hit then the penalty should be waived.

Also, there have been many of these calls that I consider to be incidental. These have mostly involved hits on QB's where the QB's helmet is just grazed or tapped lightly as part of a clean play. Often, the player who is penalized is blocked into the QB. These plays should not be penalized.

The worst part of this poorly thought out and officiated rule is that the player who was penalized is invariably fined and suspended. This rule is simply unfair to the defense as it is currently enforced.

So much overreaction about the preaseason. Theismann should know better than that. How many times have we been completely fooled?

True. My wife claims that the worse they play in preseason, the better they play in the regular season.

Years ago, during Gibbs I, the Skins had a horrible preseason. Before the first game, my wife urged me to get Super Bowl tickets, explaining to me what she had observed about the team. I laughed at what she said and I didn't buy the tickets.

Sure enough, the Skins went to the Super Bowl that season - in beautiful San Diego, no less.

Re: Ravens v. Redskins Gameday Thread

we are who we thought we were.

our pass rush looked great. balt radio talking heads are worried how rak bested monroe and how kerrigan constantly abused their RT with the same move. saying flacco as under pressure the entire half. their O line got no push as evidenced by the 4-1s.

our secondary has not been tested yet with vanilla offenses, come regular season i think this is going to be a huge problem leading to many losses.

its preseason.

Re: Ravens v. Redskins Gameday Thread

our secondary = 5 win season.

come regular season, if the pass rush doesnt get there on every play, the secondary will be exposed. its a calculated gamble and defense approach we are taking this season. probably forcing the scheme choice bc of the personnel we have bc we neglected a huge area of need this offseason. play to our strengths (pass rush) and try to minimize the exposure of our weak spot (secondary) isnt the worst approach but it is limited and one dimensional.

if we cant consistently create pressure bringing 4-5 guys, we will have a huge problem bc you cant bring 6 or more every down.

our achilles heal will be targeted by offensive coordinators come reg season. im not sold on our secondary being serviceable in the reg season bc they werent tested in the preseason.

I dont think its the greatest secondary of all time, but its honestly the least of my worries at this point. Now if you want to vent about the offense have at it. Lol

I don't see the secondary has a huge issue either. Certainly not when compared to last year.

Re: Ravens v. Redskins Gameday Thread

i ahve to respectfully disagree with you huys re the secondary. i hope i eat crow but ..

paper thin secondary at every single position with the "starters" being below average for starters at every position. hall and amerson = no. 2s, merriweather and clark are probably the weakest starting safety combo in the league.

talent wins. time will tell. a few preseason games where the safeties werent tested is false hope imo.

ps - did anyone else notice RG3 being the only one not knowing the 1st quarter was running down after he hit roberts for that long 49 yard pass play at the end of the 1st quarter against the browns? im starting to question whether i actually saw it now.

Hall is not a 2, and can we give Amerson a chance to play before we designate him as below avg? Lol. We do not have a whole ton of depth in the secondary, but you may want to look around the league. Our starters are certainly not the worst.

Re: Ravens v. Redskins Gameday Thread

We really need to remain healthy at safety for the secondary to funtion properly. So far BM and RC have been solid. Now this talk of that bullsh*t helmet to helmet hit could hurt us. Safety depth is still an issue. Rambo has been good, but Phillip Thomas is doing nothing.

Love Brandon Meriweather...I have become a fan.
Dude brings an urgency and Physicality to the D we desperately need (if he can manage to not get suspended). Haven't seen that kind of banger in a while
