The good old blame the media argument. I get it to a small degree, but your husband is a public figure who knocked you out on camera. In this day and age if it's on camera, it's going to get out eventually.

I worked at a hotel a long time ago as a desk clerk. If woman was beaten they (woman shelter) bring her there as like a safe house for a few days. The hotel company offered the room as complimentary. No one knew they were there. I didn't even know who was in the room it was just booked under a fake name. One time one of the husbands showed up and proceeded to beat his wife again, how did he know where she was? She called him.

Domestic violence is a awful circle of abuse.

I agree but lets not confuse TMZ with regular media either .Someone has been sitting on this tape and got some money for it .

I agree. I was thinking about it last night because I originally guessed it was the act of a whistle blower. However if you were a genuine whistle blower with no ulterior motive wouldn't you send the tape to a more reputable news source like CNN or even Vice News if you didn't trust a major news outlet to handle it properly instead of TMZ? Obviously you can still be a whistle blower while sending the tape to TMZ but given the fact that the choices of news organizations were essentially limitless, why settle on TMZ?

The answer to the question should have been a no brainer. Whoever released the video, wasn't dumb. Why release it to CNN or NBC if they weren't going to pay you or pay you top dollar? Might as well get paid for something as big as that. More people probably are into TMZ now than news anymore. More outrageous and less depressing, although in this instance it was pathetic.

Interestingly enough they could have sold multiple copies if they new how journalism works instead of giving it exclusive. Reed Timmer and other chasers of major news stories are well known for getting compensated by multiple outlets for the same footage.

That casino was closed down a couple of weeks ago. Chances are this is someone's idea of a severance package.

EDIT: Also TMZ had several quotes that were not attribute to anyone by name, but was from the point of view of the casino employees. The founder of TMZ was on Espn radio yesterday and while he wouldn't admit it in this case, he said they will pay for tape and hold stories. He said, "everyone does it" and got quite defensive.
