From day 1 though, with RG3, I held my breath on every play. And to be honest with myself, I have never seen a high profile player on this team EVER that was as fragile.

Maybe it is psychological because Cousins came at less of a price, but today I felt confident. I wasn't bracing for the hit every play. HE didn't seem to be either. He stood tall and confident, he made his reads, and delivered the ball quickly, accurately, and on time.

I think we all knew that he was the better pocket passer at this point, and surprise surprise it was Griffin going back to his run-first style that led to his injury (freak and flukey as it may have been) rather than sticking to their guns and developing him as a pocket passer.

Griffins young, and he has talent, so I don't want to count him out yet, but if Cousins keeps putting up the numbers he did today, I'm ready move on. Not that I have to be in the camp of 1 player or another, but we all know there is no room for 2 starting QBs on any team, and I just want to win.

I felt sick for Robert (I like him, he has good character), but then I finally exhaled and enjoyed good football without high blood pressure for the first time since these two were drafted, and I could totally get used to that.
Good post.

Yeah, scary thing is, RG3 keeps finding new ways to get injured.

Starting to think he might be like McNabb where there would be no one around him and he would still find a way to hurt himself.

I've said I like Gruden, but his press conference was handled very well. So many RGIII questions - some unnamed coaches would not handle that gracefully.

Yeah, that said, if they had lost, there would have been a lot of dumber questions directed at him like:

"Do you think that Robert running the ball had to do with the injury?"
"Who's decision was it for Robert to run the ball?"
"Did Dan Snyder want you to get back to Robert running the ball more, was it your game plan, or was Robert acting on his own?"

Well, actually maybe some of these questions should be asked, along with, was the field condition part of the reason?

Rolling out is not reckless, but going for the extra yardage with no regards because you think you are better and then get pounded, that is.

But that didn't happened. He jumped to throw a pass (which was a 1st down) and landed awkwardly on his left foot. It's not like RG3 was knocked out.

I mean that's like me saying that DJax made an extra effort and got hurt for doing that. Even though he got hurt because he had a guy on top of him.

I know, but he reverted to his old style of play going 200 miles and hour. I thought he was supposed to be learning to be a pocket QB. He should not be playing like this especially after the 2nd knee injury, he shouldn't be coddled but they also need to be careful and not pull a Shanahan. He is/was the franchise.

He tried to be a pocket QB during the preseason and the first game, and it didn't work. Honestly, we needed a 2012 RG3 that knew when to slide; and IMO up until he got hurt, we seemed to have that.

If RG3 had been knocked the F out, I would have agreed with you. Dude got hurt b/c he landed awkwardly on his foot, I think that could have happened to many QBs.

Re: Skins-Jags Positives and Negatives

Just to be clear, I wasn't saying he was being reckless, I know that was very flukey, and fundamentally he did not "expose" himself to injury. That said, I think if you can operate from the pocket, those kind of things are less likely to happen, which is why we all have been saying he needed to develop that skill set. It's just disappointing to see any progress in that direction wiped out by the very thing they were supposed to be getting away from. Coincidence? Yes. Completely unrelated? Not so sure.

BTW, I did think it was completely baller (and freakishly athletic) of him to complete that pass in the air, after dislocating his ankle.

Redskins reportedly hope RG3 will only miss 4-5 weeks

Not buying it, but you can hope.

Re: Skins-Jags Positives and Negatives

Yea its a shame 3 went down like that. He was lookin like himself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTz7tRIWfFA the reason we never gave up on him. In 2012 nobody was nicer than rg. Kaep, wilson, luck, outshined his whole rookie class.

But things happen, bad luck happens. Glad Shanny did us one favor beside a division title/playoff appearance... He drafted the Captain.
