Re: Skins-Jags Positives and Negatives

If - and this is a big if - Cousins plays the rest of the season and RG can't come back, and IF Cousins does a very good job ( not just a decent job ) and especially IF the Redskins make the playoffs, THEN you have a QB situation going into 2015. If all the aformentioned happens, I don't know how Cousins ISN'T going into camp as the starting QB. I like RG as much as the next guy - at this point, it isn't a "I like Billy" or "I like Sonny" situation (for those of you old enough to remember that - I was a kid when that happened).

This is all assuming RG doesn't come back, which I just don't see happening. And I think the management is going to be really cautious about rushing him back this time around.

No I really dont think you have a QB situation if Kirk leads the team to the playoffs. The decision will be made

Yeah, it depends.

If he's a game managing QB then I'll still be curious what the team looks like with Griffin. I won't want to settle for a game manager that lets the rest of the team win he game.

If he looks good... if he looks like a comfortable qb that can make big plays and more importantly make smart plays on a regular basis...

Well. Then Griffin is relegated to backup duty

Is producing 41 points what you call game management?

Yeah one thing we've seen from KC is he's not going to be a guy who's checking the ball down and playing it safe. I don't think we have to worry about that.

Are we making our decisions based off one game against a terrible team that spent a week preparing for the other guy?

With Griffin out things should have gotten easier for the Jags D, not having to worry about the read option and running threat.

No instead they had to worry about a QB that could read the field, not take off at the first sense of pressure, and could get rid of the ball before being hit. Just saying, there is something to be said for game prep for their different styles.

Generally speaking I agree with you, but we've seen backup QB's come in and play lights out before despite not being better than the one they're filling in for (we've seen plenty do it against us...)

You prepare for certain things then you have someone total different come in with a different style, different set of abilities, and potentially different set of play calls.

You guys want to use 3 1/2 quarters against Jacksonville to anoint Cousins a play maker as a QB - go right ahead

I'll wait and see what the whole body of work of a season looks like. When he's the one getting the reps all week, and when he's the one the defense is preparing against.

Re: Skins-Jags Positives and Negatives

Our future at QB just got a lot more cloudy. It will be interesting to see what Cap'n Kirk does with his chance.

We waited 20 years for our franchise QB only to find out that, like some mail, he has a "Do Not Bend" warning label.

Easier said than done.

I don't see any situation outside of the Skins winning it all this year where it will be an easy decision.

Griffin is the big name, and he will probably still have his share of supporters behind the scenes (mainly Snyder).

It's a complicated situation with a lot of variables at play.

Yup. It is undeniable that RGIII has superior physical tools which must be taken into account in a long-term analysis. And he was (slowly) starting to get the whole pocket passer thing.

That first ball to DJax (the terrible call) traveled 60 yards in the air. Cap'n Kirk can't do that.

Isn't it a damned shame that it's completely reasonable to think that things other than who gives us the best chance to win will be at play?

And that those things will come from Snyder?

It's enough to make me want to quit caring when I realize that the future QB of this team may be made because of marketing decisions, jersey sales, 'popularity', or because we spent draft picks on the guy.

Sickening.

Doesn't happen in quality organizations.
