Re: Titans vs. Skins Pregame Thread
Morris had thirteen measly carries last game. Gruden doesn't know who butters his bread. That's the problem.

Re: Titans vs. Skins Pregame Thread
If the Redskins lose this game, then the Redskins are officially (well non-officially, but still) sunk. However, I've written a nice twist to the storyline of this season. The Redskins somehow beat the Titans and go into Dallas with a 2-5 record. Robert Griffin III makes his comeback, and somehow is able to pull out a victory in Dallas. Suddenly, the Redskins are just two games below .500, on a two game winning streak, and suddenly they're 5-5 setting up a big game against the 49ers.
I don't expect the Redskins to beat the 49ers at that point, but I could see the Redskins being 8-8 if this is how it goes down in the next few weeks. They'll get swept by either the Giants or the Eagles - I'm pretty sure of that. But, they'll somehow pull off a victory against either the Colts of the Cowboys toward the end of the season. Things change dramatically when RGIII is playing - and playing his best. Of course this is probably the last gasp of optimism I could muster. 6-10 still looks more accurate than 8-8, and I fully expect the Redskins to lose games they shouldn't be losing.

Re: Titans vs. Skins Pregame Thread
I'd love to see the Skins win, obviously. Heck, I'd love to just SEE them. I live just over the line in PA, so it get to see 8-12 games per year. If they play the same time on Fox as the Eagles play, then I get the Eagles game. Shitheads.
Hoping for good things this Sunday either way. |

Re: Titans vs. Skins Pregame Thread
Like jamf said, Morris isn't a back you give the ball to 13 times a game. You have to pound the defense with him all game long, and you have to keep feeding him even when he's not getting 4-5 yards per carry. He'll wear the defense out and keep the chains moving, but only if you plan on sticking with him to the end. Gruden is too impatient. He sees Morris only getting 1-2 yards per carry early in the game, so he abandons him right away for the faster and more versatile Helu. Helu will get you those big plays every now and again, but Morris is much, much more effective if used correctly.
But I'm beginning to think Morris will never be the same with Gruden. Shanahan leaves, and suddenly Morris is "too slow", the line can't open holes, the running game gets abandoned, etc. Morris has the talent, but unless Gruden suddenly has an epiphany of sorts, he may never be used correctly. The hope I hang onto is that Griffin's presence really does help open up the running game. |

Snyder should tell Allen to stay out of Gruden's way and then tell Gruden to do whatever he needs to do to turn things around but he'd better start winning some games soon, or else.

Re: Titans vs. Skins Pregame Thread
As a long time Redskins fan it's so hard to see this franchise continue to lose game after game. If you really think about why we are not a very good team here is my view.
1. The RG3 trade cost us a great deal over the last 3 seasons. Not getting a number 1 pick for 2 straight seasons hurts when your team is not very good. The 36 million salary cap penalty hurt us to sign depth on the roster. 2.The last 2 seasons we have not found a better RT to replace Tyler Polumbus. Tom Compton, who was drafted by Shanahan is just a backup. Moses is only a rookie but he also can't take the job from Polumbus. 3.We replace a Head Coach every 3 years which means we are losing. We must find our guy and believe he can turn the franchise around or don't hire him. We have to stay the course with our coach and let him develop and teach his system to his players which can take time. We must learn to be patient as Redskin fans. Look I'm a diehard Redskins fan who grew up in the DC/Maryland area in the mid 70's . I moved in 1979 and still support my team ever since. Its in my blood to be a Redskins fan. I even think maybe because we haven't changed the name we are cursed. I don't care about the name as much as I would rather see this team win. Am I the only one to notice over the last 5 years or so that we get hosed on the booth review calls? How do we get screwed every time when its a close call it never goes our away. This is starting to really smell of collusion of the league not wanting to see this franchise succeed and get headlines, which would result in the teams name debate. Something has to change because this is starting to get awful painful to keep seeing this team play so terrible. Then to see these BS calls go against our team which needs any break it can get. As Redskin fans lets stay strong and support our team because we are Redskins Nation the best fans in the NFL. Redskins 30-14 Titans HTTR
