Charlie Casserly - Final Piece of the Puzzle

What second day draft pick has Cerrato made that has contributed to the team significantly? I can't think of one real good starter that he has drafted outside the first 3 rounds, and I could have picked most of those guys. He is not good at his job, and he only holds it becasue he is a friend of Danny's. He is the only person in the organization who is not held accountable for his actions.

part of the problem is a i think both gibbs and danny dont mind throwing picks around. cerrato is really just a head scout.

we did get pierce as an undrafted (who we should have kept, he's REALLY helped NYG's run D and so downgraded slightly and a division rival got a big upgrade). ryan clark... I can't really think of many others though...

Regardless of what label we want to give Cerrato's job, he does have a significant say in the makeup of the team and I don't feel he has done a good job. It seems Snyder has turned over every job in the organization 3 or 4 tims yet Vinny remains. I don't think anyone would argue that the redskins draft record outside the first 2 rounds is not good. If he is not judged on those results then what is he judged on? No one can convince me that he has done a good job. I would love the Redskins to bring in a real GM to help Gibbs, even if it's not Charley...

i'm just saying he's a good scout. I agree he hasn't been a good GM, and i'm not sure why he got promoted, but he's not the best we can get.

If he was that good a scout the redskins would have more late round finds in his tenure. Anyone can pick Chris Samuels, Lavar Arrington and Sean Taylor. Scouts & GM's prove their worth in the late rounds and free agency.

Bottomline is if Coach Gibbs being the team president wants Charlie it could happen. Dan does not have the say does he? I thought he gave complete control to Coach Gibbs.

the trades (besides brunell which was all gibbs) have been good... moss, hall, rabach, thomas, patten, washington, griffin, harris, springs, portis, thrash... and lots of 1st day picks turn out to be garbage, and we haven't had many of those lately...

fiore and barrow didn't work out, but both were low risk bets, so they didn't really hurt us.

Well, there was also Chad Morton, Jeremiah Trotter, and Trung Canidate -- all engineered by Snyder and Cerrato.

Still, it looks like overall, the good trades have outweighed the bad, though I can't be certain when it comes to salary cap implications.

I saw somewhere that the Redskins have the lowest ratio of draft picks on their final roster. I still say that someday, it will catch up to us.
