Lenny P talked about it during his chat on ESPN too.

As long as we're winning we need to have a somewhat competant backup. If we're 5-2 and Brunell goes down, I don't think that Gibbs will want to play Campbell. Ramsey has to stay this year.

Re: Jets contact Skin's

Makes sense, Gibbs is going to do what is best for the Skins and trading Ramsey would not be smart so not a surprise that they declined the trade, he feels that Ramsey is serviceable but just not the best 1st option. He can come in and win us some games and knows the offense, rather put ourselves in a position like the jets and have to bring in another QB who has to learn the system and we have a Veteran QB and two QBs that do not know or can run this offense or the playbook effectively if Brunell were to go down in the next game or two.

Dan Patrick show reporting the new, new rumor is PR is viewed as the long term answer for the Jets. They expect PR and his agent, Jimmy Sexton to turn up the heat on the Skins to cut a deal

Wow, I wonder if #87 is pushing for this up there.

Unless the Jets offer their first round pick, they should hold on to Ramsey. A bidding war could start, especially if another team loses a QB or two.
Does Ramsey become an unrestricted free agant after this season?

No, contract runs through 2006.

Re: Jets contact Skin's

I agree that we need a competant BU, as Brunell probably won't last all season and naturally, we will need him fresh for the Superbowl. However, If they are thinking of dealing PR, they won't take the first offer unless it is sweet. I'm sure the Skins will want to sweat em' a little, and PR, and agent can put some heat on the Jets as well. Will be interesting for the next day or so.

Re: Jets contact Skin's

if ramsey is the guy they really want then we can get something more than a 4th rounder hopefully :P

why wouldn't they aim for rivers or leinhart instead though? kitna is old but pretty good... and the best backup is on the titans, but with mcnair so close to completely breaking down, I can see why they'd want to hold him for now.

Re: Jets In The Market For Qb!

vinny wants to play, and now he'll be able to be the unquestioned starter... I think that's more important to him than personal grudges, its a game for the young and he got old on them.

Re: Jets In The Market For Qb! (MEGA MERGE)

Rivers and Leinhart are college QB's that won't be any good in the NFL for couple of years. The Jets want somebody ready right now. They have a good D and a playoff team; their window for getting to SB is now. They do not have time to groom a rookie. They may want Ramsey this year and up their offer.
Gibbs and Snyderatto should send Ramsey over to the Jets for a work out. I think Ramsey could impress them with his arm strength.
Gibbs did give up on QB Jay Schroeder and traded him to the Raiders for Jim Lachey.

Re: Jets In The Market For Qb! (MEGA MERGE)

pennington blew out the rotator cuff. i just want to say that i like ramsey, i have wanted and want ramsey to succeed here. but, i 'm not the coach and i defer to gibbs completely. does that mean he's correct 100% of the time. no, but we all know that he does things out of his desire to see this team succeed. let's remember he's staked his name on this. he didn't have to come back. but i am sure glad he did.C'mon Skins
