speaking of not seeing an open receiver on that play .... reed lines up in the slot with no one covering him, reed runs a seam and raises his arm to show he is open .... RG3 was started pre-snap looking left, RG3 maintained vision to the left post-snap ...... this is what frustrates receivers.

Washington Redskins quarterback RGIII touchdown call reversed, players angry at call - NFL Videos

how the fuck does RG3 not see an uncovered Reed pre-snap and not make him his primary read (if he wasnt primary to begin with)?

From your video ,by the time he gets control again he is out of bounds

i posted the video in the hopes that we could continue to bash RG3 for missing a wide open receiver .. literally waving his hands in the air.

how does RG3 not see jordan reed lined up in the slot with no one covering him.

its like the giants defenders had a brain fart and totally blew the coverage ... and we didnt even notice.

It's a fumble, it was ruled a fumble and the NFL has since said the call was correct. It's one thing to not like the rule, it's another to be blame the referees for the failings of RG3 and the poorly managed and coached Redskins.

How is it a fumble? A bobble or a juggle, sure. But it never hit the ground, another player, or really left being carried/batted by his hands.

Giantone, thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for being on these boards. You just have a way of always proving your side wrong. It's bad when you try to argue in favor of cops or religion, but most instances, like now, you are worth your weight in gold. THANK YOU!

Your post motivated me to post screenshots of the video in question.

I guess groupthink is a thing. I took it for granted, like everyone said, RG3 never got his feet down. Here's relevant screenshots:

He's got it.

He hasn't got it.

He's got it again, dragging the left foot. Ball isn't over the goal line yet.

Still got it, still dragging left foot. Oh look, the ball's past the goal line.

Still got it, dragging his left and then right foot too. He's got the ball, both feet down. That's better control of the ball than guys poking it over the line. At this point, guys usually drop the ball here.

STILL got it, STILL dragging the feet, going out of bounds. (see the pylon?)

At this point, he's no different than any runner poking the ball over the line. He had it, lost it, got it again dragging the left foot. Then took the ball over the line. Touchdown, unless you want to say every time a guy pokes it over the line and drops it should be called back.

I tried to tell you guys. Moss and Garcon and others tried to tell the refs. The call on the field, touchdown, should never have been overturned in the first place!

Don't take my word on these pics. Here's the video link again, below. Second vid down the page. Click on it to freeze, then continue.

I TOLD YOU SO!!!!

It is similar to a catch. Once he lost it in midair he has to have control of the ball throughout the process, which includes hitting the ground. Once he hit the ground he lost control of the ball… hence a fumble with no clear recovery.

Even though he was out of bounds when he lost it?

edit: And again, I overlook, contrary to what everyone is saying, RG3 didn't leave his feet! He keeps stepping, even drags his feet to stay in! He was never in midair!

Yea it's a fumble when did he ever lose the ball or hit the ground ? The ball was bobbled but he never lost control of it . NfL is just to damn smart for it on good. They make a simple play like its rocket science to see a player scored a TD. Bad rule and bad call . If a player stretches out on the goaline and the player knocks it out of his hands simultaneously is it ruled a TD? Yes because the ball broke the plain. How many times have you seen a runner laying on top of another player but dives out reaches he ball to the goaline but only to lose it and it still is called a TD? I remember back when we played the Carolina Panthers and RB Stephen Davis scored from the 1 yard line and he stretched out the ball over the goaline and the Panthers knocked it out of his hands and they ruled it a fumble.
Like Moss says even when we do something good it always turns out bad. We have been getting screwed on bad calls ever since Synder became the owner.
