Re: A.J. Smith to be Redskins GM?
I am starting to have a hard time believing that we will make that move -- especially if the rumors that we are going to keep haslett are true.

Re: A.J. Smith to be Redskins GM?
This is a huge offseason coming up. Smith has been known to be a very competent general manager for the Chargers. He's responsible for putting all that talent on the field that enabled San Diego to compete under Marty and Norv. After the failings and missteps of Bruce Allen he would be wise to step down from that GM post and promote Smith.

A.J. Smith was hired as a senior executive after the 2011 season.

Smith has been pretty influential as far as the draft the last two years. He's already on our payroll, I got no issue with giving him more official control. Is send Scott Campbell packing

I think AJ would be better than we got now, preference would still be bring in a new GM from outside the organization

Yes. I also think it's probably too early to judge his impact quite yet

If he gets full and total control over football ops, then I may be intrigued but if not, it's same old same old. I agree on Campbell as well as the scouting staff. Hopefully if he's hired, he can influence Snyder to give the scouting department some legitimacy in terms of investment and respect.

Re: A.J. Smith to be Redskins GM?
[QUOTE=Paintrain;1101468]Is that a good thing? Our 2014 draft class, outside of Breeland, was a bust this year (though I think Grant will be a good WR going forward & Murphy can contribute but isn't special) and 2013 is not looking stellar either. Amerson & Reed didn't step forward and Thomas & Thompson are just seeing the field. 6 of the 15 players picked are no longer on the roster or practice squad.
If he gets full and total control over football ops, then I may be intrigued but if not, it's same old same old. I agree on Campbell as well as the scouting staff. Hopefully if he's hired, he can influence Snyder to give the scouting department some legitimacy in terms of investment and respect.[/ Some of you wanted Breeland cut cause he was smoking some weed in camp. Lol. He's not only been one of the best players on defense, but is obviously a future star in the making. What I like most about him is he's constantly in that film room grinding away trying to get better. The front office doesn't get many right but they nailed it with Breeland. |
