Re: All things off season 2015.

I've read a couple of places that with McC in the fold don't be surprised to see him dip into familiar waters to bring some former 49ers draft picks that could be free (Ahmad Brooks, Vernon Davis) as well as some Seahawks free agents (Byron Maxwell) but free agency being very measured and low key. No more big game hunting...thank GOD!

I'm not dead but this team is dead to me...but now that McCloughan is here they may have new life!

Jay Gruden = Zorny McSpurrier
Kirk Cousins = Next Grossman

Other than DJax (which was a good acquisition), when did we go big game hunting? I wouldn't consider Gracon that type of pick up; nor Hatcher.

We did have our hands tied with the cap penalty and no first round picks to offer - ya never know we might have tried.

One thing I will say in favor of Bruce: since he came, contracts have been reasonable. No $100 mil. men. We overpaid for folks like Lauvao and Porter but not wildly so.

From what I've read, McCloughan likes to build teams through the draft, so I wouldn't expect him to dabble heavily into free agency. I mean, think about it, did he raid the San Fran roster when he came to Seattle? No, he built that team through the draft and supplemented a few places with free agency. I expect him to try and do the same thing with the Redskins. Now, he might grab one of those guys if the price is right, but he's not going to go crazy in free agency.

Although, it might do the 'skins some good to pick up Vernon Davis.

I'm hoping on the flip side of this dynamic that the Shanahans, wherever they land, might be willing to offer something for folks that the Shanahans love but Gruden doesn't. Like Cousins, for just one example.

Could it be that Shanahan is bringing his boy with him to SF?

Kyle taking his ball and going home. Word is he asked to be let go. Guess he wants no part of that Manziel shit show brewing this off-season.

A reenactment of Kyle's departure:

Re: All things off season 2015.

The Mueller report on the ray Rice investigation just got released. They key conclusion: "As to the first question, despite extensive investigation, we have found no evidence that anyone at the League received or viewed the in-elevator video prior to its public release. Likewise, we have found no evidence of a woman at the League acknowledging receipt of that video in a voicemail message left on April 9, 2014.

With respect to the second question, we have identified the investigative steps that the League took in the wake of the Rice incident, steps that reflect the League’s longstanding practice of deferring to law enforcement—a practice that can foster an environment in which it is less important to understand precisely what a player did than to understand how and when the criminal justice system addresses the event. In this case, that deference led to deficiencies in the League’s collection and analysis of information during its investigation. We conclude that there was substantial information about the incident that should have put the League on notice of a need to undertake a more thorough investigation to obtain available evidence of precisely what occurred inside the elevator. Had the League done so, it may have uncovered additional information about the incident, possibly including the in-elevator video prior to its public release."

Robert Mueller choice compromises NFL investigation - Sports - The Boston Globe

the NFL as an organization is just odd to me at this point. they seem to act late and then over-react.

why even have an investigation in the first place? if it was done to appease fans and to dispel the appearance of incompetence .... why choose a person with heavy prior involvement repping the NFL and has ties to ravens pres Cass?
