Perhaps we could find a rookie who could start at SS but there is little chance that we're going to get a starting FS out of the draft this year. I have no problem with giving the right FA a lucrative contract to anchor our secondary as our starting FS because we currently have NOBODY at FS and filling that position can't wait.

Cobb to Oakland seems like a strong possibility right now

I think what you are seeing is Scot McCloughan allowing his present scouting staff to either sink or swim. He's evaluating what they are turning into him. So, these guys that the 'skins are re-signing or bringing in for a visit might just merely be Scot's way deciding who stays or who goes on his staff. Just remember, things aren't going to be perfect this offseason. McCloughan will make some good moves (probably more in terms of the draft and rookie signings), but there will be a lot of evaluating of his own staff. He did say he would go through free agency and the draft with the present scouting staff. So, I would probably just about say that any offseason moves that turn out to be head scratchers will probably just be a result of trusting the opinion of those remaining staff members - who probably won't be here next year.

First of all, there is no need for Scot to allow his staff to screw up any FA signings or draft picks in order to evaluate them. Secondly, no executive in his right mind is going to sit back and let his subordinates fail at such an important task. He's going to check and re-check every player they recommend. That's because an executive is responsible for what his subordinates do; therefore, their failure is also his failure and his failure is the entire organization's failure, which is unacceptable.

Re: All things off season 2015.
Hmmm...I dont have a very high opinion of our FAs.
Brian Orakpo, OLB - let him go Barry Cofield, DT- let him go Tyler Polumbus, OT- let him go Roy Helu, RB - Keep Jarvis Jenkins, DE - let him go Brandon Meriweather, S - let him go Leonard Hankerson, WR - let him go Niles Paul, TE - Keep Santana Moss, WR - let him go Colt McCoy, QB - let him go Stephen Bowen, DE - let him go E.J. Biggers, CB - let him go Tanard Jackson, S - let him go help him pack pay for his taxi....

Re: All things off season 2015.
sarcasm ? Paul had 5 tackles, and 1 assist in 2014
FYI In 2014 Branch had 30 tackles in 3 games an incentive based contract might be a good option Last edited by Irrefutable; 03-05-2015 at 02:45 PM. |
