We desperately need a backup RB that can block on 3rd downs. We still have, what? 7 picks left?

I'm not gonna sweat a RB pickup.

Exactly. This seems like someone you draft in the 6th round as a project.

Good ST player, picks up block well, and can punch it in from short yardage. Three things this team needs sorely. How many times did helu whiff on a block and cost us? I know we arent used to drafting smart but this isnt Vinny or Shenanigan making these picks its a guy who has a proven track record. Let the process unfold. Its gonna be a bright sun shiny day.

I hear that Jones visited the Redskins, so I'm sure McC got to take a good look at him. My only concern are his health history (knee). Other than that, I'm okay with this pick, we haven't had a good pass blocking RB since CP.

Yeah I think 3rd down pass pro and big guy are the two keys to that pick. If we can make sure the qb(whoever it is) stays clean our receivers have pretty good odds of getting open. I am liking the draft from the concept of what's being built.

Good frame and speed for special teams. Seems to fit the bruising mold of Gore and Lynch, minus some vision. It's another attitude pick, hard nosed.

That said I don't know that they couldn't have gotten him tomorrow.

Love the Preston Smith pick and Jones can get us first downs and he can block. We're getting big and we're getting physical.

Gruden on RB Matt Jones: "He's a downhill-type runner." Said of visit: "We liked his attitude, passion for football."

Washington Redskins ‏@Redskins 3m3 minutes ago
Gruden on @PrestonSmith91: "great versatility ... lined up all over the defensive front." Calls him an "explosive player" at OLB position.

If they liked Jones enough to draft him this high, they're probably looking at him as competition for Morris.

Jay Gruden said Alfred Morris won't be affected by pick of rb Matt jones. Morris still the guy. #WASpick

Also, can't wait to see Brandon Scherff manhandle Randy Gregory when we play the Cowpukes.

Dude can move well and has good game speed. Would of rather picked up Dawson that went a couple picks later. This might be Alfo's replacement after his rook contract expires.
