Re: All Arrington All The Time (Mega Merge Club Mix)

I don't really care at this point. I just know two things:

1. I want LaVar and his huge asssss contract to stay here in D.C. I think it will go a long way in terms breeding a culture of tenured Redskins for life, if there is such a thing. (ref. to an earlier post)

2. I want him to rip Plummer's ass on Sunday!!!

Re: All Arrington All The Time (Mega Merge Club Mix)

A couple of points:

Well as I said yesterday we all feel so strongly about LA b/c we have been told on so many levels since he was drafted how he is Mr. Redskin.

I feel many Pro Bowl Selections are soooo political and unfortunately have sooo little to do with how a player really did during the season. Funny how winning teams place far more players on the PB roster than teams that do mediocre. On some level it is a self fulfilling prophecy. But a playmaker on a 4-12 team is the same as a playmaker on a 12-4 team is he not?

Boy as Redskin fans we always seem to need some sort of controversy to get all steamed up about. Last few weeks it was Ramsey v. Brunell now it is LA v. Williams/Lindsey/Synder/First Ladies of Football and God knows who else.

I do like the fact though that if the fans/media start getting super riled about this situation and it becomes a distraction then maybe we will have a resolution thru conflict.

I'm just happy the R vs. B thing has cooled off for now.

On to the next controversy!!

Re: All Arrington All The Time (Mega Merge Club Mix)

LaVar is a very good football player. Maybe because he possesses a rare blend of size, speed and power he is "overhyped" by the media. But he's a playmaker too, something that our defense sorely needs. Yes, we are playing great defensively but the areas in which everyone seems to agree we need to improve on (forcing turnovers and getting pressure on the qb) are LaVar's strengths. I'm not sure why he's not playing right now, obviously the coaching staff knows something that we don't know.

As for "football instinks" let's just say LaVar has plenty. He makes game changing plays, which we may have forgotten since he's yet to really play in GWilliams defense. He's a weapon, right now one we have in reserve, and I sure hope he's making a big impact on opposing defenses sooner rather than later.

Man! this is really starting to upset me. he's better than warrick holdman, cuz holdman's been in the league longer and has yet to to go a single pro bowl. what the hell has warrick done that makes him deserve to be a starter? is gibbs keeping him out cuz he thinks he freelances? what the hell, our defense has a bigger turnover potential with lavar in there. i can only hope at this point that lavar studies like hell to learn the playbook and his place.

I agree offiss, if we should have learned anything by now, it's to have some trust in the decision making of this staff.

They've proven us wrong more often than not.

the difference, offiss, is that ramsey and brunell are both average, and LA is actually good.

Re: All Arrington All The Time (Mega Merge Club Mix)

Sounds like in todays Washington post LA is getting some reps w/ the starters. The players on defense are starting to come to is aid also. Marcus, and lemar marshall both believe he should be on the field. And they are also using the term I am hearing the most our here and thats "PLAYMAKER". Sooner or later he will see the field, we all just better hope he's been mentally preparing for what he has to do on the field. Hey, why doesn't everyone in the stands start yelling L-A-V-A-R like we did with Ramsey last year, maybe that will work?!

where did you read that? I did see Washington on Total Access talking about how he'll be out there pretty soon, and it was more of a knee thing (??) than anything, but I looked all over the post and didnt see anything like what you just said.

Re: All Arrington All The Time (Mega Merge Club Mix)

How many other starters on D play special teams and are all around team players? I know I see Sean Taylor on Special Teams, does Holdman play Special Teams, I think I have seen Walt Harris out as well. It is not a slam in the face of Arrington, but like we said doing what is best for the team and he may need to jump in and play special teams and knock someones head off running full speed that is dangerous to think about LA hitting a little kick off returner wide open. Him and Gibbs having a long talk after practice shows they are both trying to talk. I would think it would be a motivational type Lavar we need you to step up and prove to this coaching staff that you deserve to be in, I know you have talent, but it is up to you to show in practice that you are the outright starter.

Re: All Arrington All The Time (Mega Merge Club Mix)

Alright, since everyone else has, I thought I'd add my .02. Just for giggles I dug up some stats and compared LA to a few of the more famous and hyped linebackers in the league over their first four years of play.

First 4 Years:

Now, is LA the best LB in the league? Certainly not. Is he overhyped? Who the hell knows or really cares. His stats aren't phenominal over his first four years, but they ARE good and better than average.

I think claiming that LA is of no use, should be traded and has no football "instinks" (whatever the hell that is) is a gross overstatement.

LA is an above average LB with alot to contribute to any team, and a stand-up, nice guy to boot.

Bottom line, G. Williams knows what he's doing and I trust him. The whole Brunell-Ramsey thing should have taught all of us here in Internet-Football land to maybe have a little faith in the guys getting paid millions to make these decisions.

Re: All Arrington All The Time (Mega Merge Club Mix)

Great info, correct me if I am wrong, of the 4 you have listed only LaVar plays OUTSIDE LB, and for all of his years he was on the strong side, over the TE. Which I think puts a little more credit on hit tackles, sacks, and forced fumbels. He was facing a TE and tackle on almost everyplay. the other three are MLB, which they are naturally in on more tackles. Notice, these 3 guys were all hurt at one time or another, most recently Urlacher and did they lose their jobs? NO!!!!!!!!!!!!

He doesn't make a lot of tackles though based on those stats. I think that Williams will put him in a position to make the play provided he can be disciplined enough.

OLBs never get as many tackles as MLBs. Arrington is getting compared to all MLBs there...not a very fair comparison
