Yes he was an extremely good athlete, but the hype he received was out of this world. I thought the Carr, Harrington, then Leinart and Young hype jobs were over the top, but they don't hold a candle to what the media did to hype up RGIII. This kid didn't stand a chance of living up to it. Even his ROY season couldn't totally match the hype. This not coming close to living up to that hype is the source of the "hating". On top of the hype, and the fact he wasn't really groomed for the NFL, he got drafted by a mess of an organization, that didn't know anything about building a real contender. As we saw this past Thursday night, our line without Trent sucks, and let's be honest Trent gets banged up often. Even with Trent in there, it is an average line at best. In fact, Trent is the only true starter we have on our O line. The rest are nothing more than second stringers thrown out there due to FO incompetence of the last decade. This fact alone almost guarantees that Robert will only survive through week 5 only by the grace of the Almighty. If Suh and co come in real hungry he might not last past week 1. Couple the fact that the o line is horribly outclassed and the fact that RGIII really hasn't shown enough improvement thus far in the preseason, I don't think he is going to be upright past week 5. IF I was Scotty M, I also wouldn't draft a QB in 2016, but do some great scouting for more offensive linemen in the first two rounds. Any new rook we get is still going to get killed with the boobs we have on our line. Shore up the offensive line before we go for another young gun. We don't need to ruin more young QBs like Patrick and now Robert because of wrong schemes/bad offensive lines.
The offensive line is a lot better than what you are giving credit for. Kirk had 8 sacks in 6 games last year as opposed to 33 in 7 games by Robert. The OL is fine. Is it the best? Absolutely not, but it's enough to make a 6th round RB look like a star the past 3 years. Also, our line is rated better than the Patriots as well.

Didn't look so hot at home on Thursday night. Why was it so utterly dominated? The Lions D is good, but they totally made our line look inept and unprepared. Are the conspiracy folks right in that they were bad intentionally to send Robert a message? I know Robert has some blame for him being treated like a rag doll, but the line did suck bad! Even if the line does shore up some come week 1 against the Dolphins I am not sure Robert is going to stay healthy for long.

Stop spreading your toxicity. I swear people should be banned for saying stupid shit like "Jay is planning on Robert being injured"

If you honestly believe a football coach wants a QB hurt so he can play another makes you insane.

Not saying planning on it, but maybe anticipating it. I think last year's drama should have made it plainly evident that Gruden doesn't want RG III to be the starter but is hamstrung by his boss. If RG III really hasn't improved do you think he is going to last past week 6 given our schedule? I don't think coach Gruden wants to see RG III hurt at all, but I think he might be anticipating the odds of Robert going down if there is no significant progression come week 1. I mean face it, if Robert keeps running into the open arms of those Miami Defensive linemen do you think he is going to last long?

Also that is not toxicity, that is speculation, and not just on my part. Many folks on NFL.com asked that same question during and after the game on the game thread and the RG III injury article thread. I am not the only Skins fan that was outright startled at the inept line play. Gruden stated that the only way Robert loses the starting job is via injury and it is common knowledge that Gruden isn't a big fan, thus an opening for a conspiracy theory of sorts. I don't think Gruden wants him hurt on purpose, he is the best athlete of the 3 QBs out there, but he definitely anticipates it if Robert doesn't show any progression come opening game day.

I heard Kevin Sheehan use the ridiculous argument. RG3 took a lot of sacks and many them were his fault. That is true. However, RG3 faults doesn't change the FACT that our Oline got manhandled consistently. They couldn't open holes in the running game that is one of the reason AM barely eclipsed 1000 (a career low). Lets be honest, with out that read option he would never had 1600 and 1300 yard seasons. With RG3 on the field he has room to run. Without him he struggles to get 50 yards in a game behind our line. That's not my opinion, it's a fact. If you watched all of the games last year you'll see no matter who we play our Olinemen gets pushed in the backfield consistently on passing and running plays. Now Kirk might have taken less sacks but our offense was just as ineffective.

Luck's line sucks worse, Rogers and Big Ben have played with crappy Lines. It's a tired and pathetic excuse. RG3 gets sacked, because he can't recognize Defenses and has zero pocket presence. KC and Colt are hardly pro-bowlers and they get sacked way less behind the same Offensive Linemen.

Glad im not the only one who sees it. The dude is just not a good qb. End of discussion. You can put him behind whatever line you want or surround him with whatever weapons you want. You can give him whatever coach you want and play him in whatever system you want. 2012 was unfortunately a mirage. He will never ever make it in the NFL. The sooner DS and all others involved realize this, the sooner we can start digging out of yet another hole. Just for the record this is not what I want, and I have been absolutely depressed about it since the 2013 season started. He has had ample time as a healthy qb in both pre-season and regular season to show us any sign of a "turn-around" and has done absolutely zilch, nada, and squat about it. Oh well. As I have always said im a Redskins fan, and i dont care who is under center or when he was drafted as long as he wins.

Exactly, I don't understand the reason why anyone keeps making excuses for RG3. I am guessing they are a person that never played or coached the game
at any level, aren't that observant or have an ulterior motive. As I wear a Redskin hat often in public people will want to discuss RG3 with me. The apologists keep saying the coaching staff is at fault for making him a pocket passer that he is not.

I guess he is told to take a 5 step drop to point X and stand there without
moving even a step in any direction until a receiver gets open or a 300 pound defensive tackle flattens him like a pancake. He is being trained to take the
hit like a man, do not duck or turn, take the whole impact standing straight up, acting like he never saw it coming.
