Re: Week 3: Redskins v Giants

Giants coach Tom Coughlin said the team will be "very conservative" with LT Ereck Flowers (ankle).

Flowers will not practice Tuesday and it sounds like he will miss Thursday night's game against the Redskins. Justin Pugh will move from right guard to left tackle with Flowers sidelined. John Jerry will get the nod at right guard.
per Jordan Raanan on Twitter

Ah shucks, thats too bad.

Another thing flying under the radar about Fewell that benefitted the Redskins was - he was on the other side of the Cousins terrible performance against the Giants last season. He was probably able to give some feedback with his perspective to be able to correct some things with Cousins, especially with his interceptions.

Skins should have no issues with the giants Oline we literally should get 3 or 4 sacks. I honestly don't see us losing this game and I'd be disappointed if we did. We are overall the better team. Yeah they have Odell but that's really it.
23 17 skins.

Re: Week 3: Redskins v Giants

I think the Skins secondary is facing their first real test.

With Culliver back and Breeland getting his feet wet, our secondary is about complete as it has been just 2 weeks in, sans Mr. Ihenacho.

Good litmus test for us. Good litmus test for the Giants as well.

Hopefully Fewell's experience will be the tipping point in our favor.

whats the line - pick em or home team favored by 3?

My biggest concern vs. the Giants is Special Teams. It's the Redskins biggest weakness and Coughlin has always taken pride and focused on Special Teams play.

Giants are favored by 3 by the oddsmakers... trying to find reasons why. The only reasons I can find are Special Teams and the Giants are desperate at 0-2.

Re: Week 3: Redskins v Giants

I'm probably exaggerating things, but I think this is a make or break game for the Redskins. They have a lot of stake riding on this game. A win against a tough divisional opponent, on the road, and on national TV will make a strong statement that they can be the best team in the division and that they are not the old Redskins.

It seems that every year we have early successes and then come a key game like this and we always manage it to lose. I truly hope things are different and that this team is ready to play on the national stage and have the opportunity of taking the lead in the division and sinking an opponent.

As the great Muddy Waters said, we got to get our MOJO working

Giants really havent been tested on the ground with the pass first offenses of Atlanta and Dallas (both teams passed the ball over 45 times)...

Eli kinda rips us through the air...we have to be worried

I don't know about "make or break" for us at this point. Before the season I was struggling to find a game we could win, with how we've looked so far I have turned from pessimist to something better than that. I still have no expectation for the season in terms of the real goal of post-season play, but seem to have conned myself into believing we can win 8 games if all goes well.

And looking at the division, all of a sudden 8 wins may mean something after all. So there's that...

But we also need to remind ourselves that 6 wins would double our win total from last season, which would be significant progress. I guess I will continue to be safisfied with a competitive team that plays hard week in and week out.

Been a fan for 50 (!) years and am reduced to hoping for a six win season... Kinda sad.

Two weeks ago looking at the schedule I thought 5 wins was a stretch. Now looking at the schedule 11 seems about rite. Thats how well our lines have played though, I just did not see that coming.

Re: Week 3: Redskins v Giants

Im not convinced this is the easy game some here are predicting. The Giants are 0-2 but its not like they got blown out. They were winning both games fairly late and choked them away. Early in the games, they actually looked pretty good.
