We're not good enough to take anyone lightly. No game is a gimme. Hoping for the win not expecting/guaranteeing it.

I'm already over this game, just gotta avoid espn and halftime shows this weekend. Here's to Eagles losing on Sunday and staying in the cellar by themselves.

Re: Redskins/Giants: Gameday Thread

I don't mind a loss like the one against the Dolphins, where the team played well, fought hard, and well they loss. This is just outright embarrassing.

The NFL has been up and down this season (one week the Bucs make Mariotta look like the second coming of Joe Montana; the next week the Bucs dominate Drew Brees and the Saints, while Tennessee shits the bed agains the Browns). So I am hoping that this was a one week "down" for us.

Still, this loss screams to me that the team wasn't ready and I pin a lot of that on the coach. I just hope they get their shit together to play the Eagles.

They were ready to play. It's easy for all us arm chair QB to blame Gruden. Giants were desperate and they are a better team right now. Eli was the difference. He clearly outplayed KC and that was really the game. Eli had no turnovers and KC had two. There's your game. I didn't see any guys quitting or loafing.

The rookie that got the punt blocked maybe wasn't ready to play. Other than that I saw effort out there.

Also it's too hard for a average to below average team to go on the road and win a Thursday game. Did you really think deep down we were going to win this game? Especially without Jackson?

Thank you! The notion that we were outcoached and ill prepared or quit is bullshit. Gruden called pass plays against the leagues worst pass D and the throws were there all night! We need better qb play and an edge rusher desperately. Our D did not play a bad game. We put them in good field position. Were about a draft/offseason away from the next level of good, but we can absolutely win our division this year. Cousins is still very young as far as being a starter goes. You could make the case this is game three. There is certainly cause for alarm as far as his decisions and I do not think he will be our guy for too long into the future but I have not given up completely on him.

I wasn't expecting a win; I was actually expecting something similar to the
Dolphins game: good defense, good running game, mediocre passing game; offense not scoring enough points to overcome a late comeback by the opponents.

As I said, we're not good enough right now to play that type of game every week. Especially on a short week. We're going to be up and down all year long.

Well injuries also killed us...but I also felt that Gruden went away from what works very quickly. I mean we weren't supposed to be able to run on the Rams, who have a far superior defense and we did.

I just hope they learn from this and have a better game against the Eagles.

Agree...dolphin loss wasn't bad, this was an embarrassment. Gruden looked weak, cousins was god awful

Redskins/Giants: Gameday Thread

0 sacks. 0 turnovers. Against a team that gives up both. Ugh. I know offensive struggles put the D in a bad position, but after our run game kept them off the field the last 2 weeks, it would have been nice for the D to make some plays. Could not see the game here - saw highlights and read analysis. Seems like we can't help but piss ourselves against this team. Ugh again.

Re: Redskins/Giants: Gameday Thread

Hate to say it...but this was not surprising at all. Giants have had our number since 2012.
We forget that we were a 4-12 team last year. This is the game that reminds us we are building.
Giants game planned for us by stopping the run. Cousins played like shit, but peppered a few good throws throughout. Penalties killed us
Totally undisciplined team with mediocrity throughought. Welcome to the real world, kids.

The play calling was fine. The Giants took away the run by stacking the box. Gruden called plays that got WR open. Cousins failed to execute all night. Even his completions were thrown behind his target and the guys had to adjust.

The Oline did a nice job of providing a pocket.

The Dline and OLBs failed to generate a pass rush. Preston Smith should have played more as well. He was able to get things done that Murphy could not.

We have a good chance against the Eagles to get to 500. Hopefully Djax is back. Though with the arm strength we saw last night I dont know how we will use him properly.

It is always like this in the 1st quarter of the season. Bad teams look good and good teams look bad. Then eventually it all settles and the cream rises. Unfortunately we sink.

Re: Redskins/Giants: Gameday Thread

Stayed up and watched until the second fourth quarter fumble, the one by Garcon, near mid field. In typical fashion I get Thursday Night football (TNF) sleep deprivation and the anger of yet another TNF loss, really cannot stand the Giants they seem to do this every year. The game was very upseting as a fan have that same ole Skins feeling, the big negatives: no pass rush and no turnovers by the D, yet again. The turnovers and the penalties did the offense in, Gruden's teams seem to severely lack discipline....time to go to work......at least it is Friday.
