vince lombardi is a good coach, but his stint here wasn't a winning season. you can't will rgiii to play like aaron rodgers, that's just not how it works. if a team is lacking talent, you do the best with what you have and wait until you can get better players.

I don't think J is a great HC right now, and i'm not sure he'll ever be one, but you can't preach accountability and then not hold certain players accountable. that's just a generally bad idea.

anyways, kirk had a bad game, J got away from the run way too early (maybe they felt the giants were too strong there? or the injuries changed the plan? still, we can't be throwing it 50 times very often w/ the current cast). both ints were bad throws, the first one was an obvious no throw before it even left his hands. if you catch a db breaking in like that, you gotta know better.

lerib looked bad getting pushed around out there too. reed has to stop getting pi flags and jones needs to stop fumbling. the coaching staff needs to show they can scout opponents and self scout tendencies better, cause they didn't seem to do a very good job there.

i think that's enough for me.

This. It has been three games imo. Let him have a chance before they give up on him, and in a perfect world we win enough during his maturation that we not only stay in the division race, but also so we all stay sane and stop calling for everyones heads.

I think this comment Jay Gruden made about Kirk is nearly perfect:

"He has to play through some of these pitfalls. We're hoping that he does," Gruden said. "We're hoping a more mature Kirk Cousins will bounce back from these performances. He did some great things, but there are some plays he needs to make to be a starting QB in the NFL and he will make. We just have to have patience and understand there will be rough times with a young quarterback. But he has to understand he can't put the team in risk and he has to protect the ball better. We'll see how it plays out."

I just want to say that I like the way things are going right now. We have a very talented GM, a HC with the potential to become a long-term solution, good assistant coaches, and a QB that we might be able win with, in due time.

I do not want to start over again with a new HC and new offensive and defensive systems unless and until it is obvious to just about everybody that we can't get to the top with Jay Gruden at the helm. At this point, many of the players do not know the systems they are playing in as well as they will in time. We need for that to happen just as much as we need to continue to upgrade our talent on the field.

I'm sold on Scot. I'm liking what I see in Jay Gruden's growth as a HC. We'll see about Kirk but I think it's way too early to turn to someone else at that position. That said, I'm "In" for three years of team building with SM at the helm.

Anybody looking to fire the HC at this point is advocating going down the awful path we've been on for too long. What part of patience don't you understand? I'm glad that Scot is doing the evaluating here, and not a bunch of half baked would be scouts, coaches and general managers on a fan forum.

The Redskins fan base is like the politics in DC. Half the fan base who like Kirk are also pulling for Jay to succeed. The other half that still pull for Griffin want Jay fired in hopes their beloved one will play again. I for one think we need stability and need to stay the course otherwise we will repeat the last 20 years of losing.

Who in their right mind is still pulling for RG3? I would think he's done in DC, with or without Gruden.

Completely agree, the big mistake was keeping Griffen on the roster, which was probably a Danny-boy play/power move. Griffen it too polarizing, and since the decision was made to move in a different direction, he should have been cut. Griffen was only effective as a read option QB, two straight dud years, and getting benched more than proves the point.

The hard part as a fan, is do you believe what you saw games 1 & 2, or game 3, which is Same ol Skins

30 Gut did call for Griffin to be released prior to the season. However, he sees things similar to me. I want Gruden to call what is good for the person on the field. But I dont see that from him. He is a single minded play caller who wont or cant change. If Griffin is the QB, then the game plan needs to be different than if KC is your QB. But I have yet to see Gruden be able to do that. He calls his style and doesnt seem to be able to change.

What is RG3 the worst at? Straight drop back rhythm offense. What did Jay call for RG3? Exactly what he is worst at. This is not a defense of RG3, its a criticism of Gruden (even though most on this board are going to take it as a defense of RG3).

To many people want to say if Gruden has the right players, he can succeed. Yet, there are hundreds of coaches that if they had the right players, they could also. Thats not exactly a ringing endorsement for Gruden. I would like a coach that can say this isnt working, let me try something else. He clearly saw KC struggling against the giants but decided if it didnt work the first 12 times, maybe it would the 13th. Yes, KC missed open receivers, but as a coach you have to see that he is struggling and make alterations. Gruden either cant or wont. Im not saying fire him now, thats pointless. But, if by the end of the year, he cant break that single mindedness that he has shown in 2 years here and however many years as the OC of the Bengals, then yes, I consider it a problem.

I cant help but wonder what McC thinks about that also. But I am still putting my faith in McC. Whatever he decides is what I am rolling with. He had a solid first offseason here and he needs to be given the time to do what he does. If he thinks he can get Gruden the players to make it work, then im going with it.

I don't care if Kirk the man, I just believe Jay the problem!! He is more a side show then Griff!! The reports I believe is from him and no team wins with that!! Every time he doesn't get his way a new report comes out!! If he doesn't like Griff he don't got to tell everyone!! I'm pretty sure he didn't like Forbath, so where d report about that at! This guy is a clown, everyone will see!! Every coach has problems with management, but only a few teams you hear about!! Every player sees how he protecting Kirk, they wondering why the different approach now! You want to change the culture, you got to have a leader to follow first!! Everybody wants the owner to treat every player the same, what bout the coach!!
