Re: Redskins v. Falcons Gameday Thread

Does it ever occur to you that We might be a handful of players short..I am willing to say Cousins may not be the Qb of future but he is the best we have right now..we don't have our best WR and Te on the field. Gruden does not have The bengals Roster and tell me how many years has Andy Dalton been in league?? This is Cousins first real starting job..were you ever a Browns fan calling for Bill Belichick to be fired??? Its always the head coach or the Qb fault..in my opinion the D let us down on the final drive. you can have your opinion and post on here the rest of the season about the sorry coach we have..but for me i am going to enjoy the fact that for the first time in a LONG time we have a team that has a chance to win every game ..so you are saying theres a chance….

You right I got my opinion and you got your opinion! Y'all always wa t the defense to make this and do this. I see games where guys are open and leadership lacks! Atl might get better, but this team is not part of the elite b/c they are undefeated. Kirk plays the position better than Griff I'll give you that. If any qb that been playing in drop play since the 8th grade, he should be better than griff. The question is why is he not better or why is he making footwork mistakes? As for Gruden, what he need a pro bowler at every position? One or two players, what about a coach dial up one or two plays to make the difference! A Zorn went 8-8 with a worse offense weapons! Stop thinking this guy is the answer, he not. Roster, Atl don't have many playmakers on def or offense. Ryan, Jones, Freeman who else?

I would like to note - Gruden has managed to keep the locker room through a bad last year and a goofy offseason. I think this is the strongest TEAM coached by anyone not named Gibbs or Marty. He is holding players accountable, and coaches as well. That is more important to me as we rebuild, not wins just yet.

good overlooked point. I think he has handled alot of things much better this year...last year he said some really dumb things and the result was the locker room wasnt a great place. He's learned in that aspect.

X and Os, he's decent. game plan is all right. I think McC def advised Gruden on a vision of what the team should look like and how to win. Gruden still has strides to make. Like Keim said, you can be a running team and not run it everytime on first down.

Im for keeping Gruden around if we continue to see progress. I think Gruden and McC need to really come up with a QB plan...its obvious Cousins isnt the guy.

Re: Redskins v. Falcons Gameday Thread

SM has said that the roster, in terms of who plays, should be the coach's call. In that sense he has given Gruden the ability to hold players accountable, and I think he didn't have that last year, hamstrung with the QB debacle. At this point, everyone should know that Gruden has SM's backing, and likewise Gruden knows it's his neck on the line. I think we are seeing positive steps with this staff, but honestly, we still have 11 games and it could go south if we lose the next 2.

I don't know that the Jets is a must win game, but a loss this week, and the Tampa Bay game takes on a look like the 2014 season. We were 2-3 this time last year, having just lost to Seattle. We had the Cardinals and the Titans and lost to both. That's when the season was lost.

Let's see these next two weeks. imo, We need to be at least 1-1, and maybe 2-0 in order to really know we are moving in the right direction.

I'm REALLY concerned the Jets will run against us like the Falcons did. Jets have a better offensive line. Good news is that their QB situation is a mess and they don't have the firepower at the WR position that Atlanta did. Hopefully this means we can stuff the box and prevent Ivory from getting going.

Fitzpatrick is decent enough and they have a couple of big physical WRs in Decker and Marshall. It's going to be a battle if we can't shut down Ivory.
