Re: Coach Changes: Firings/Hirings
I know that, but 3 guys with DC experience that can collaborate with each other gives you an edge.

Re: Coach Changes: Firings/Hirings
I'm not sure that's a good thing, each guy probably has his own style and there could be friction if the assistants recommend ideas and Barry ignores them. I don't have a problem having 3 quality guys on the staff, but they best know their roles.

Re: Coach Changes: Firings/Hirings
I haven't been the biggest Joe Barry fan, but I started checking Defensive stats compared to last year and I was surprised by a few things....
2014 Pts/G 27.4 (tied 29th) 2015 23.7 (17th) 14 YPG 357 (21st) 15 381 (28th) 14 Rush/G 108 (7th) 15 123 (16th) 14 Pass/G 249 (24th) 15 258 (25th) 14 Int 7 (tied 28th) 15 11 (tied 21st) 14 FFumb 14 (tied 11th) 15 21 (1st) 14 DefTD 0 (tied for last) 15 2 (tied 17th) 14 Sacks 36 (tied for 21st) 15 38 (tied 14th) So compared to last year..... 5 categories Improved, 3 categories slipped We gave up more yards (Rushing, Passing & Total YPG) not a good thing, .......BUT..... we created more fumbles (a lot more) & had more interceptions, not to mention the 2 Defensive TD's. And, the biggest surprise to me is that we ended this year with 2 more sacks than last year. We also gave up less points per game this year (special teams play might have helped this). All in all, for Joe Barry's first year, the numbers are encouraging and actually fared better than I gave him credit for. p.s. - Master Joe Kim's success continues...the team improved 7 spots in sacks in just his first year. I wouldn't have guessed that either until I looked. |
