Re: NFL Free Agency 2016
OK, that makes sense. I didn't realize they had relaxed the tampering rules. Kind of takes the "excitement" out of free agency.

Re: NFL Free Agency 2016
ESPN's Ed Werder reports the trade sending CB Byron Maxwell and WLB Kiko Alonso to the Dolphins is "considered dead."
The two teams also would be swapping first-round picks in the deal with the Eagles getting the Dolphins' No. 8 overall pick and Miami moving back to No. 13. It was pure highway robbery by Eagles GM Howie Roseman just to get Dolphins czar Mike Tannenbaum to take the contracts of Maxwell and Alonso, let alone moving up in the first round. It appears after a couple days of thought that Tannenbaum is possibly smartening up and getting out of this one. The reason the deal is on life support is allegedly the Dolphins' concern with Maxwell's shoulder. You know I've been thinking lately " WTF is Miami doing? They seem completely brainless" And now in the bold, everything makes sense. That guy is a complete clown

It still baffles me that after the long history of free agency misfires and giving away picks by our team (which was well documented by the media); other teams don't learn from our mistakes.

They gave Mario Williams 2 year deal with like 8-9 million per. That's cray to me.

as far as other signings, i think the giants got JPP on a pretty good deal. from what i heard 10.5m is the cap, and that means he's played well and stayed on the field all year. the cb contract seems like it's too much money for a guy that's a #1 cb, but not a great one. if you want a corner though, there's not much out there. bad news for us, williams (DT) is staying in SF. he's one of the 3 big FAs i'd be good with signing. |

Re: NFL Free Agency 2016
The Dolphins and Jags SO remind me of us a few years back. INSANITY.

Also I think the teams with the most cap room are overspending like crazy because they know they have to reach the cap floor this year.

Re: NFL Free Agency 2016
It also feels so different from when Bruce Allen was like, "We're taking care of our own." the year we won the division with RG3. We weren't THAT talented of a team...

Re: NFL Free Agency 2016
Yeldon was one of those guys who could handle the load though. It's like just because you have the cap space, doesn't mean you should be stupid with it. Dunno.
Just think you could get your change-of-pace guy in the draft and pay a fraction of that.

Re: NFL Free Agency 2016
I also keep wondering if while we reload via the draft, we'll keep signing the Terrence Knightons and (maybe) Chris Longs just to have some kind of depth.

Rolando McClain (LB) back with the Cowpukes on a 1-year deal. Marvin Jones (WR) expected to sign with Detroit.

Mike Garafolo @MikeGarafolo 3m3 minutes ago
Mentioned ~$30m fully guaranteed for Janoris Jenkins. It's $29m, to be exact. $40m first three years. $62.5m over 5 total. That's a lot of money for an inconsistent player IMO.

Re: NFL Free Agency 2016
Love it. Hope they get a couple inconsistent years out of him before they cut him.
