Implicit in your assertion and essential to its accuracy, however, is that the Pats have been going to Super Bowls with solid players and Tom Brady.

So, your justification for overpaying solid players because the Pats went to several Super Bowls with solid players is a logical truth if and only if Eli Manning is equal to Tom Brady.

Solid Players + Tom Brady = Solid Players + Eli Manning.

(Solid Players + Tom Brady) - Solid Players= (Solid Players + Eli Manning) - Solid Players.

Tom Brady = Eli Manning.

Sorry, it just doesn't add up.
