Re: NFL Free Agency 2016

Cleveland looks like the spot for RGIII, Hue Jackson would be a good person for RGIII. I hope it works out for him.

Robert Griffin III has convinced Hue Jackson he's 'humbled' and has 'taken responsibility' for Washington debacle | cleveland.com

Jackson would be good for him, too bad the franchise is a complete disaster though.

If - and thats a big if - Griff winds up starting a game at some point for Cleveland or whoever signs him I am going to be rooting for him to do really well. That is a problem because if he does and lets just say KC takes a step back(Which I think will be the exact opposite of what happens) - oh boy. The media and all the Redskin haters out there will just rip us a new one. Again, imo Cousins is still ascending and Griff is finished, but there will still be that dilemma of rooting for him. Maybe I will root for Cousins to beat Griff in the Superbowl in the greatest qb battle of all time? There ya go.

A few years back, the Browns had a pretty good team that just didnt have a QB (trading up to get Weeden and Manzielaholic were desperation moves to solve that). Not so much anymore. RG3 is going to get killed behind that OL unless he learns to release as soon as his back foot hits the ground. Thats not what he is good at. He should go to someplace that has a strong OL or to a team that runs a system more suited for him (Buffalo has Chan Gailey who runs a spread type system).

As for Morris, im really surprised he went to Dallas (and surprised Dallas signed him). His strength is the stretch runs where he can use his vision and one step cut ability. He has power, but he is not what is considered a power back. He is not a hit the hole hard type of guy. Denver should have said no to the CJ Anderson offer sheet and pursued Morris. He would be an ideal fit for Kubiaks offense.

I did kind of say that wrong. Didnt mean that the team itself was good. I meant that they had some really good individual parts. Their OL was actually really good. DL was above average. Had a couple in the secondary that were real good although the unit itself wasnt great. Had the bongman as a receiver who was really good for a couple of years.

The main downfall was the QB position. They could have been a fringe playoff team with a good QB, possibly better. They couldnt get an average QB. They went for homeruns on QBs and whiffed every time. Weeden was a last ditch effort with some good players still there. Manziel was also but players were hitting FA and leaving as soon as they could at that point. Their drafts havent been good the last few years either.

Thats why I say a few years ago would have been different. I think the parts were much better then. Hue might be good for him, but he would be back on a below average team and hes not carrying an offense. I think the Browns will turn out bad for him unless they all of a sudden get much better outside of the QB position. Hes going to need that because if he goes there and starts, and another year 3 happens, hes either going to be dead or selling cars.

Re: NFL Free Agency 2016

Just heard on Grant and Danny that Robert is expected to sign with Cleveland today.

Bad move on his part IMO, he should have gone somewhere like KC where he could have sat under a good QB with a great QB coach and then been a star again after taking over. Now we will be in the top 1 or 2 of the draft bust lists forever.

Report: Browns expected to reach deal with RG3 today | ProFootballTalk

yup...Schefty reporting it as well. Oh well.

I think this is probably worst case for RG3.

Broncos and Jets both in desperate need of a QB and they were never serious about RG3. To me, that tells me a lot. Both playoff caliber teams said not even a chance.

Of course that assumes that KC wanted him. I never heard anything of the sort.

That's the most damning thing here. He has been a free agent for two+ weeks, the only visits he took were the Jets and the Browns.

The Rams have Foles as their best option and they didn't bring Robert in. Elway currently has Sanchez as his best option, and he didn't bring Robert in. The Jets currently have Geno Smith, and aren't willing to go higher than $8M to Fitzpatrick. They kicked the tires on Griffin but didn't bend over backwards to sign him. Houston really needed a QB, and rather than give RG3 a look they figured they'd throw $18M per season at Osweiler who has only played what, 8 games in the NFL?

Teams that really needed a QB aren't interested in him. And Shefter is reporting that Cleveland is still likely to draft a QB with #2 overall.

Most of us understand because we're a fairly knowledgeable board, but Robert really has fallen that far. 2012 is not coming back.

The Browns come to Fed Ex in 2016. I wonder if Griffin even plays. You'd have to say chances are it will be Goff, Wentz, or McCown.
