Pros - Local guy (Howard) at a position of need. Former 9er. described as a leader.

Cons - 31 and missed most of last season w torn pec. cap hit of 6m which i assume could be massaged down.

He might be cut outright so a late draft pick trade ala goldson could be in the works.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know he missed that much time last year, cools me off on him. We have enough guys coming back from injury next year. But he used to be a beast.

But if the FO feels weak enough at S to think about Dash I would prefer Bethea.

Meh. You don't need to use leverage when dealing with Chip. Just smile and say nice things about Oregon and he'll pay you twice what your worth. Heck he may give a draft pick to Carolina, just because.

If it was leverage, you go to SF first, and say my next trip is DC. If he leaves here without a deal, he is not coming back. That's the way we roll.
