If its true what they say about this being a passing league than we sure are loading up. Norman, and these two picks really should improve our game.

Just saw this on Bleacher Report:
PFF Draft ‎@PFF_College
Over the past two seasons hybrid LB/S Su'a Cravens held opponents to a 52.3 QB rating when targeting his coverage

Ssshhhh it's not safe hear to use pff grades here, lol.

Before his poor combine and slow 40, I thought Sua was going at late 1st or early second.

Can everyone stop using the expression "poor mans". It makes me feel like a cheap whore. Lol. Maybe one day people will say he is a poor mans Su'a Cravens!

I absolutely think they see him as primarily a strong safety. DeAngelo Hall is clearly best suited to the free safety spot with corner coverage skills (albeit diminishing). Cravens can hit, he's very well suited to playing in the box. And probably most importantly, he is an answer to covering tight ends in the slot, something we currently completely lack.

Great pick.

Remember, McCloughan likes his players big. If he envisioned him as an LB he wouldn't have gone with Cravens. But he's huge for a S.

Safety is solved!

Bucs took a kicker? Is it possible that he would have been there later?

Chip Lohmiller, 1988 Round 2, pick 55, Redskins.

Worked out ok...

The fact that the guy is a good or even great kicker isnt the point. Would Lohmiller have been there in the 3rd, 4th, 5th? Would this guy have? Id have to go look at the 1988 draft to see everyone we didnt take instead.

My only point was that there's precedent for taking a kicker this early and we're it. Not worth looking at the draft, but if memory serves me, we never regretted the move and Chip was outstanding for the Skins for a lotta years.

I love me some Chip. That being said he is one of 18 k/p drafted in the first two rounds ever. If the Skins took a kicker in the second round you would be as angry as the rest of us. Lol. Romanowski was drafted later in that chip draft. So imagine if we had taken Romo and than Chip later on when he would still have been available? I just think that the first two rounds are not for kickers. Unless the guy regularly kicks 60 yarders and is just a total freak.

Nice breakdown on Su'a by a Bills fan. Passed the eye test and then some every Saturday for me.

Tampa must like kickers that are drafted high. They recently signed the punter that Jax took in the 3rd round several years back, and now have taken a kicker in the second themselves.
