I was going to say this. If he has other obligations that are bringing in more revenue for him...then it may be a business decision on his part. He does have other outlets that bring money in.
I kind of co.pare it to my work environtemnt...if I have a voluntary day, and I miss...none of my Co workers bat an eye. And they actually agree with me missing if I'm doing side work and getting paid more than if I had come in.
