Re: Cornerbacks
Not them, they are Skins starters, and are doing a great job when healthy. What im saying is: Springs is hurt, harris constantly gets hurt, so we may have to move Taylor down to help at CB, which leaves his safety spot to NFL backups, or use Jimoh at CB again. Im an eternal optimist when it comes to the skins. Everyone is saying how great it was that our back up CB's kept the Broncos under 100 yrds recieving, but the Broncos didnt have to throw the ball because they already had the lead, and did not want to chance the throw in such miserable conditions because they had the lead and the running game was working just fine for them. Like when we get the lead an Gibbs is perfectly content to hand the ball of for the rest of the game rather than chance a pick.

Re: Do we need more cornerbacks?
nice post, welcome to the board.
We have a ton of safties with bowen, taylor, prioleu, clark, stoudmaire... So im assuming Williams has confidence in their ability. A replacement for Jimoh would be nice though, lol

Re: Do we need more cornerbacks?
Ryan Clark is probably the most underrated of the bunch. He's starting caliber with any other team. Bowen is too, though, and you could easily make the argument for stoutmire and Prioleau.

Re: Do we need more cornerbacks?
i don't know why but ryan clark is definatly one of my favorite players, I wouldn't be upset if he was always our safty next to taylor

Re: Do we need more cornerbacks?
I think Bowen is the only one with terrible man coverage ... this is mostly based off him getting burned by keyshawn johnson 2 years ago which made me so angry i turned off the television

Re: Do we need more cornerbacks?
We dont have many corners on the team, but there is a reason for that. First, like others have already said, Williams has great cover safeties and LB's. That offers a way to take the pressure off the CB when injuries happen and a backup needs help. Second, Williams uses schemes that often brings pressure from the secondary on obvious passing downs. This means a bad CB (like Jimoh) can be as hero as a great tackler when he is put in a blitzing situation. Ive seen Williams drop Washington and Marshall off the line to cover WR's. I've even seen Williams drop Griffin and Salavea into coverage off the DL.
On the surface it looks bad. It's just not as bad as it looks.

Re: Do we need more cornerbacks?
Here's the chance for Carlos Rogers to shine and make his case for a starting job while the rest of the secondary is banged up.
Now it's time for him to step up and prove why he was a first round pick. For me, in the limited playing time he's had, I haven't exactly seen it. |
