Re: Filthydelphia Eagles Pre Game Thread

I thought Pryor was better than those two combined. Basically every team has had elites (Bryant, Brown, Beckham) or very goods (Pryor, Cruz). I wouldn't put Matthews in that category. He has promise, but he hasn't shown he can dominate anyone.

Their D is legit. We have to mix it up - run, run, 3rd and long won't cut it.

Re: Filthydelphia Eagles Pre Game Thread

Sadly the blueprint to really hurt our D was exposed week one and never foxed IMO.... running between the tackles and the SCREEN game..... 2 things the eagles USE TO HELP THEIR rookie qb. Who we rarely beat by the way, rookie qbs, so, im not excited. I don't think we will outscheme them on EITHER side of the ball. And i think we might get whooped, or just fall short of a comeback but i dont expect the coaches AT ALL, to put us in a winning position this week. Sorry... cuz i HATE THE FUCKIN EAGLES MANNNNN - "THE DUDE"

Re: Filthydelphia Eagles Pre Game Thread

Luckily, their center and guards are just OK. I read that we started shifting some people around on the DL and it had some good success versus the starting lineup we had against Baltimore. I know Baker doesn't like NT, but they said he played a few snaps and was a BEAST. Ionnidis commanded some double teams too.

Damn, 6 concussions for Reed? probably time to hang it up, this game is not worth the damage that's doing to him

I hate saying it because he is awesome, but I agree, if you're that prone to them it's not worth it in the long run. I'm sure he loves the game and it's also a lot of money, but I'd rather have my wits than millions of dollars. But its easier said than done for me to say than for him. He seems like a good guy, hope everything works out for him.

Philadelphia Eagles | Injury Report

However, you need not worry about Cox’s status for this Sunday’s game against Washington. The Eagles’ All-Pro defensive tackle will be playing at FedEx Field. Doug Pederson said this morning that Cox’s absence from practice was to be expected, and was largely precautionary.

Cox has 11 tackles, four sacks, and one forced fumble in four games this season. He’s been nothing short of Pro Bowl-worthy so far; having him for Sunday, the Eagles’ first divisional game of the season, is big.

Pederson said McKelvin and Braman will also be ready for Sunday’s game.

Eagles injury report: Cox, McKelvin don’t practice Wednesday - Bleeding Green Nation

----------------------------------------

How are the Eagles this healthy? They have 0 players on IR and will have 0 players from the 53 man roster missing sundays game (except ped boy lane).

How is that possible? Wow.

Re: Filthydelphia Eagles Pre Game Thread

The Eagles do have lousy WRs, that's why Doug brought back the good old Andy Reid horizontal passing game. The biggest threat we have to worry about is Darren Sproles on screens and wheel routes.

They'll try to get us running side to side and then occasionally try to surprise us with a deep throw.

I think Norman and Breeland put them on lock. Whitner playing a lot more this week I'm going to guess, I think he helps shore up some of the poor angles in the secondary and helps limit Sproles and Ryan Mathews. And without Lane Johnson, I don't necessarily think we have a field day with getting to Wentz, but I don't think they'll be able to run to that side very well. The rookie playing RT is supposed to be a decent pass protector, but where he'll struggle is run blocking.

However, if we have to miss Jordan Reed that will hurt us quite a bit. They'll shade deep to cover Jackson and we won't have the same threat in the middle. And it's not in our hands as to whether Reed plays, the concussion protocol means the independent neurologist has all the say there. We'd just have to hope Crowder can threaten the middle of the field enough, and that we can gash the wide-9 with Matt Jones.

Even matchup. We'll get up for this game, for sure. It's a division game against a team with a 0.5 game lead on us. It doesn't get any bigger. This probably comes down to whether Cousins takes care of the ball or not.

Don't forget about Vernon Davis, he's been playing pretty good when given the opportunity

If we don't have Reed which I bet we wont, it won't kill us because it opens it up for Crowder to get over the middle and guys like Davis and Paul will get some chances.. Reed has been the main guy basically so it'll be nice to see other get the chance.

It's the red zone where it kills us. No Doctson, no Reed, we have no size.

Vernon Davis is a nice player but he doesn't have Reed's quickness and he doesn't run routes as crisply.

Matt Jones is going to have to succeed.

This...not only Matt jones needs to run the ball in the rz, but I would take advantage of underneath routes to running backs. Simple plays where our receivers run out or clear out coverage and we look to throw to our backs who can beat lb coverage. Teams like the patriots and Seattle always will run at least one play like this when they get within 10 yards of the end zone...

Also when you lack size we should run more pick plays to garçon or crowder.

I generally like pick plays or clear out underneath throws than fades in the end zone.

Agreed, though having the fade as a threat/decoy is nice. Forces the corner to play straight up as opposed to shading inside. Creates more opportunities.

Against Philly's Wide 9 front, it needs to be a Matt Jones kind of game. But 3rd and goal from the 5 is a great opportunity for a QB draw against that wide 9 front.

There will be ways to score, the execution will just need to be really on point. We need to control the line of scrimmage. If that happens then I like our chances.
