Retooled O. Sacrificed D.
How could it be that once our offense starts clicking the defense starts falling apart? Most people would think we did the right thing not making a lot of personnel changes on defense this off season. And saying that, LA didn't contribute much to the success of being a top rated defense last year. I'm not holding up a sign that reads "CUT LAVAR", but trying to paper a solution to a porous run defense and a secretly sulking-star. How about the the 3-4 Coach Williams? There's a lot of LB positions to go 'round using that scheme. And no. I'm not talking about using our LBs as pass rushing DEs. With Marshall and Holdman manning the ILB spots and LA and Washington at the OLBs. That will also allow for a fresh rotation of our now depleted DL. Bird in hand Coach. Not hand in dirt. If you wanted a hybrid LB/DE 'a la' BALs Suggs or DALs Ware maybe we should've drafted one.

It seems as if our offense is progressively getting better....but our defense is progressively getting worse....

Re: Retooled O. Sacrificed D.
the chiefs have one of the better offenses in the league... priest holmes had 18 rushing yards on 14 carries- and that's with their best o-lineman returning (roaf)... that's amazing no matter how you try to dissect it.
we've lost two in a row, mostly due to giving up the big play on D. we gave up the big play today on some trickery by the chiefs. i still think our D is an excellent unit and giving up the big play is correctable. i'd rather have a big play problem than having a defense that can't stop the run. the latter you can't fix in a season. |

I just hope we can stop the big play of the other division teams....I just hope we can beat them.
