Re: The after London semi-meltdown thread.

I think calls for Hopkins' head are a bit premature. He has an 88% accuracy rating over the last two years plus booms kicks out of the end zone. The guy misses one kick badly and everyone wants his head. Does no one recall the trail of kickers we had through here before him?

Suisham 06 - 09: 80% FG kicker
Gano 09-11: 74%
Billy Cundiff '12: 58%
Forbath: 12-15: 88% (BUT - 25 of 31 on kicks of more than 40yds; plus KO's rarely reaching the end zone).

Before yesterday, Hopkins has missed ONE kick less than 40 yards (out of 17 attempts) and only two (out of 14 attempts) at least gives us a shot on 50+ attempts (3 of 7).

Good kickers are NOT a dime a dozen and cutting Hopkins b/c of yesterday's OT miss would be a huge mistake IMHO. If he continues to clunk short range kicks, fine. Right now, however, he has better accuracy and distance than any kicker we have had, at least, in the last six years. Crazy to talk of cutting him right now.
