Cards vs Skins Postgame Freakout

Welp we really needed that one. Tie is gonna keep us out of the playoffs most likely.

Thank god David Johnson isn't in our division, guy is a beast. He is awesome at getting through tight holes and has an ability for shifty moves within the hole. Twice i saw him perfectly blanketed with coverage...Cravens and Bree...and twice he made great catch for big plays.

Look, playoff teams win that game. On defense we are screwed up front...McC didn't get us help at NT or DE in the offseason and it's killed the team. Everyone knew we needed help going into the season and the moves we made weren't good. Also at the backend of the defense at safety we don't have enough coverage talent. The final td to seal the game it reared its ugly head again with no help over the top. Bruton was a bad free agent signing.

Cousins was just ok today. Of course Kelly ran well but we didn't go to him enough. Mcvay's inability to scheme a balance offensive attack is holding us back especially in the red zone. He's overrated IMO.

Hats off to Carson Palmer today, he was great...Fitzgerald as well.

McVay is doing OK for a first time coordinator, who still learning. Today showed he's not ready to be a head coach, tho.

Good points. I really think what we're seeing now is the lack of addressing our weaknesses on D. Everyone can blame Joe Barry all they want, but they better hold McL accountable too.

It's not rocket science...you build long term winners from the lines out and we really haven't focused on that strongly enough.

we need to take the L and move on to PHI. If we beat them and NO beats TB we r back in the 6 seed. Also need Dal to beat NY

No more freaking out for me. It is what it is. We're a decent/good team on an upward trajectory, with a still severely flawed defense that needs another off season to improve, and probably another 2, to be good. Might get into the playoffs, might win 1 game if we get a good matchup, but that's it, that's the ceiling for this season. I think we'll finish 9-6-1.

Folks blaming Barry aren't watching the game.

Luavao needs to go. Dude was fuckin terrible today. I think we found our solution at center with Spencer long for the future but Lauvao needs to be replaced.

I said 9-7 at the start and I still say 9 wins is what we get. we'll lose to NY last game of season but we'll have the 6 seed already due to the tie.

Re: Cards vs Skins Postgame Freakout

Been saying since game 4 or 5 I would be shocked if we make playoffs because of the defense, today was no surprise. This game turned out EXACTLY as I predicted in the pregame thread,to quote myself:
"Thats the formula for every game isnt it? I dont see it happening. We dont have a magic pill for the defense thats going to fix it,Johnson has been the best back in the league since he became a starter. If we can get lucky and get some leads and Johnson doesnt get many carries then thats the only way I see us stopping him.
Palmer is old but he's still capable of having a great game, especially against our defense.I wont be shocked if we win by any stretch, but I'm more inclined to go with Az at home in this one.We have to get tds in the red zone, and thats another thing we need a magic pill for, because we dont capitalize when we have those opportunities."

I didnt get to see the game, was driving around town listening to around the nfl on the radio when they cut to the redskins with 3rd and 1 on the goal line and they throw a focking fade!!? WTF,I thought i was going to have an aneurysm I was so focking mad.And I heard gruden saying earlier in the week they werent running enough in the red zone and then they pull that shit. And on top of that we make Carson Palmer look all pro again{which I was expecting, but damn!}I thing he had 104 rating for the game.
With this defense it's going to be hard to make playoffs, then add shitty playcalling in redzone to the list, well

I think we all have to remember that we're not going the FA route anymore. The FA's that SM is going to sign are journeymen type of guys. He's going to upgrade the defense and the team basically through the draft.

Free agent route is ok if you have a plan

Re: Cards vs Skins Postgame Freakout

The tie is gonna play huge for us. If we finish with 9 wins we get in because of it unless Tampa just rolls and wins out. Highly unlikely
