I still like Wade if he's available. But Pettine obviously gets it, and the record of quick defensive improvement is there.
This is hella good info Schneed, thanks for sharing. After reading that I would probably be happy with Pettine, provided he got the players necessary to run it. I'm not certain our defense currently has the smarts to be effective in a scheme like that, but obviously we know where the focus will be so I'd be happy to give it a chance.

Yeah the talent always goes hand in hand. He had line talent with the Jets (Kris Jenkins) and the Bills (Marcell Dareus, Mario Williams).

We have a few pieces he can work with but he would need more. You could say the same for any coach, though, and McCloughan will no doubt be out to get more.

Nevertheless, the Bills had Dareus and Williams in 2012 before Pettine was there. They were 22nd in yards allowed. In 2013 in Pettine's first year? 10th.

If we have a defense that is top 10 while maintaining a top 3 offense we are probably running away with the division.

Shameless self-promotion. It is what it is.

Agree, the talent deficit has to be addressed &I'm sure they will.

The part I like about Petine is how fast he can turn things around, which tells us that the scheme helps bring the talent level up a notch.

Not sure that Gus has shown that in his previous stops.
