Re: Cousins 3.0, he's going to sign the franchise tag
I'm sure it's about the money, at least in part. I can't get mad at a guy for getting as much as he can, while he can. I'm sure I would do the same damn thing if I could.

Re: Cousins 3.0, he's going to sign the franchise tag
What is the contingency plan IF Kirk leaves next year?
Colt McCoy? Not having another QB in the pipeline has been my gripe for awhile now. Every franchise, especially WCO, should always have developmental QBs in the que especially since they've been doing this dance with Kirk for 2 seasons now. IF Kirk is playing elsewhere and there isn't a viable QB under center then heads should roll. |

Re: Cousins 3.0, he's going to sign the franchise tag
Scot McCloughan's wife takes not-so-subtle shot at Redskins
Seems to me like Allen is hoping for a team to suffer a QB injury and then try to trade KC similar to the Bridgewater deal last year. KC is gone, they fucked up.

Re: Cousins 3.0, he's going to sign the franchise tag
I don't know why anybody would blame Kirk Cousins for doing what he's doing. Have a great year, collect your money, and go to a team next year that conducts itself like a professional organization. This is all a reflection of bad ownership. Unfortunately, there is absolutely no way to fire the owner. The only way to get rid of Snyder is to not go to home games, don't purchase Redskins stuff, and do a complete boycott. I appreciate his efforts toward keeping the name, but other than that, like MTK said, this is bush league.

Re: Cousins 3.0, he's going to sign the franchise tag
The reason Cousins comes out and says "if I base my life around money then shame on me" is because he's publicly preparing to save face by not taking every penny his leverage dictates he could.
As long as the 'Skins come with something reasonable, that recognizes the short supply of QBs in the NFL, he'll sign.

Listening to Andrew Brandt yesterday he thinks a deal will get done and it won't be the crazy expensive deal some are expecting it to be.

Andrew Brandt is very knowledgeable in this area and I trust his insight better than most sports news folks, given his background/experience.

I think it will take 25M per, I just dont see the Skins offering it. I like the optimism though.

Re: Cousins 3.0, he's going to sign the franchise tag
Rappaport says both Skins FO and Kirk are on board with him playing out the tag. If true, we better draft a QB in '18.

Re: Cousins 3.0, he's going to sign the franchise tag
He won't sign a long term deal with the Redskins, this year or next year. He's doing just fine on these one year deals, and has more to gain if he plays the season out on the FT, and then play the game again next year. I'm not real sure his current or past comments really matter; his nature is to be positive and not rock the boat. And everyone else outside of Cousins, his Agent, and the FO who are commenting on the situation is just guessing. It's not getting done, and if I were him, I'd be completely fine with that.
