I would agree if those numbers are in fact true then KC has to go. That seems like a fair deal and if he turned it down then he is obviously trying to force the Redskins hand.

Maybe KC is bitter at the organization for low balling him in previous years. Maybe he really dislikes working for Dan and Bruce. We've all has bosses that we'd disliked. Maybe he didn't like the entire ordeal with Griffin and how he was coddled. At this point on KC knows...

He'll be on Grant and Danny tomorrow. It will be interesting to see what he has to say.

Local radio is going to be bashing the team 24/7; I already see Grant Paulsen b*tching about the whole thing on Twitter.

Cousins is lucky that the team has such a bad rep, that he doesn't have to worry about any negative press.

I don't trust Kirk any more than Bruce Allen. Hope Skins saved a copy of that proposed contract and proof it was sent to Cousins agent.

I really don't see how Cousins Team turned down that offer if true. 53 mil signing, 72ml injury guaranteed?

That sounds like a fair deal to me.

53 mil guaranteed, not a signing bonus. The were tacking on an additional 29 mil to the 25 guaranteed money he's getting this year and finishing it up with 72mi for injury.

I'd have to assume some of that additional guaranteed money would be in some form of up front bonus next year.

Not all guaranteed money is a bonus, but all bonus money is guaranteed.

Re: Cousins 3.0, he's going to sign the franchise tag

Allen notes that the team made an offer on May 2. They offered $53M in guaranteed money, which is $1M more than this year's franchise tag number + next year's transition tag number. And he'd be under Redskin control for five years.

Not worth it for Cousins. He's better off staying on the one-year plan.

Allen continues to fail to recognize the leverage his wait and see strategy has handed to Cousins. Allen seems to think he's still negotiating from a typical negotiating position. It's not a typical position; the current position has the team bent over, grabbing their ankles with white knuckles. And they put themselves in that position.

Next season, the price is only going to go higher. And Allen will hem and haw about making him the highest paid player in the NFL. It's not about that Bruce, you dipshit. It's about Kirk's opportunity cost. He has the opportunity to hit the free agent market in his prime, something you permitted to happen. It has you over a barrel, ass in the air. Recognize it and pay the freight, or you'll lose him.

Fire this idiot.

He's making it sound like they offered a great deal and then Cousins' agent never responded back. I'm sure that didn't happen. Honestly, if I'm Dan Snyder I seriously think about ditchin' the stooge.

Amen. We're only in this position because Allen put us in this position. All this "we can talk after the season" shit is total fucking BS, why would Kirk even entertain an offer when he knows he can ride out the 1 year deal, hit free agency, and have SF/Kyle S. pay him market rate on a long term deal. It's a total win-win for him. Fuck Bruce Allen.

I'm gonna enjoy this year knowing it might be the last year we have a competent qb under center for a while. Looking forward to being at square fucking one at qb next offseason.

We're in this position because Cousins doesn't want to be here period. The team's mistake was to not trade him when they could have. But oh well, here's to one good year (hopefully).

Why would he want to be here? The team's GM keeps lowballing him. It was insulting at the start, and that might be the reason he declined the latest decent offer. I absolutely wouldn't be surprised if he wanted out at this point. And of course he'd be happy to play out the year, he's getting paid 44 mil for 2 years of football, and when he hits FA next year some team (likely SF) is gonna give him a deal that makes the 44 mil look like chump change.

We seem to be forgetting about supply and demand here. Ya'll think just because we found this diamond in the rough it means we can just conjure up another one since we apparently aren't satisfied with this one.

Well, we just have to hope Bruce wrote up the contract, then forgot to press send, and its still saved in his draft emails.....

Re: Cousins 3.0, he's going to sign the franchise tag

At the end of the day, I'm convinced that Cousins doesn't want to be here, hence why he's probably asking some outlandish number.

When Carr got his deal, many people thought Cousins should get a similar deal, and it sounds that's what he was offered.

His deal would have actually been higher than Carr (40 gtd), Luck (44 gtd), Rodgers (33 gtd), Newton (41 gtd), and Wilson (31 gtd); when looking at deals in the past two years.
