They have since met a second time, which is part of an “improved, encouraging tone” that has created hope that a deal could get done by the deadline or after the 2017 season if things don’t move quite that quickly."

I've kept hope all along, firm believer that the deadline is going to shake things up, but this is a really good sign.

Of course if you're 100% sure a deal will not happen, you could see that as a sign each part is just trying not to look like the side who made a deal impossible to be done.

But I don't see why KC wouldn't want to win millions of dollars playing on a team he's been doing great in (if they offer him a proper deal) and I don't see why the Redskins wouldn't want to sign their first decent QB in forever to a LTD rather than paying him even more for a potentiel 3rd tag...
