I thought it was interesting how he pointed out the Steelers as an example of a team that has big money tied up in its' qb, other skill position players, and the defense, and how they're still successful. Just goes to show it's not impossible to build a team when you're paying a qb big money.

No but you are aware the salary cap typically increases every year, which means down the road his salary will be more manageable. And we have Eric Schaffer on hand, who if you haven't noticed is fairly good at being able to get us the players that we want at the prices we can afford them at.

Fuck that, and I don't care who's to blame. That's horse shit. I can't take this game of chicken anymore. If I was in charge I'd already have an offer on the table and he has until end of January to take it or leave it. February 1st he's either our qb or we're all watching film 24/7 of the qbs in the draft. But no, this team makes everything as dog shitty as possible.

After Cousins little event today, I'm more optimistic about the organization, and it confirmed some things that I suspected:

1. It was Cousins that held things up last year, they did make a legit starting offer to him, and he knew what BA was going to say in the July press conference.

The media had blown that whole story out of proportion.

2. Cousins has been shown that he's wanted here. The story line that they needed to evaluate him is from 2 damn years ago.

IMHO, I don't know how these things work, but it would seem to me that the only thing to for the Skins FO to do from here is to kiss Kirk's ass back a little, offer him a legit offer (25mil +) try again to start negotiations, if he doesn't bite you tell Kirk at the deadline, "we love you Kirk we want you here, what would it take for you to find a peace here, not just with money but with being a winning organization?" If he doesn't bite or asks for >28mil then say, "we understand you want to see what you're worth and where you feel a peace, we respect that, but I hope you can respect that, well, you're our plan for a future, and if you can't commit to us long term we need to protect our investment in you, so we will put you on the transition tag with the hope of signing you long-term and jeep trying, and you will then have the opportunity to look around and see what offers there are and if you feel this is really the right place for you, if you decide to stay we'll sign a long term deal, if you instead accept another teams offer, we will match it if it's at all possible and hope we can help you to find a peace here, but we want you to want to be here too, so if you want to go elsewhere we will help you work out a trade."

Bruce should put the non-exclusive tag on Kirk and reach out to Denver for a trade for their 1st rounder.
Why would Denver do this? Because this is the only way they can get Kirk without cutting other key players. The Redskins can match any offer the Broncos create because of Denver's limited cap space. Why would Kirk do this? Because this is his best option to go to a potentially winning team.

With the 5th pick we take Barkley, Josh Allen at 13. From there, I am signing Sam Bradford or Keenum on a 3-year deal. Use the added money in free agency to fix the LG, and defense.

Sam Bradford? In 8 seasons in the NFL he has been healthy enough to play all 16 regular season games twice. With the Redskins injury issues the last few years do you honestly think they take a player with a bad injury history?

Kirk is good as gone. You don't say shit like this if you really want to be here. Why would anything else in the league (especially coaching changes) have to do with a single fucking thing on your contract negotiation if you REALLY wanted to be here. You guys keep ignoring the flags and the subtle things he says. The majority of the time when he was asked if he wanted to be here, his response was "I want to be where I'm wanted". That in itself says a lot. It wasn't a "Yes, but I also want to be compensated as such", it was a non-answer that was a yes or no answer. He wasn't going to ever say anything other than "yes" at that fan event thing because I'm sure he does respect the fans and appreciates it. I think too much has gone on between Dan, Bruce and Kirk for the relationship to continue on.

That article I posted a couple months back about what his father said was telling too, even though many of you called it a "nothingburger." Fact is, his dad said that he wasn't going to sign ANY contract for ANY amount when they tagged him. That right there tells you it's not about being compensated or guaranteed money. So if they came to him with a 85 million guaranteed money he would have still rejected it? Then that says he doesn't want to be here regardless.

Even asked Smootsmack earlier today if he thought Cousins was going to be here. "No reason for him to stay" was the answer. I'm going all in that we're looking for another QB come off-season. (unless the Skins tag him again)

Once again, Kirk doesn't like BA u can just tell, and as long as he's in charge Kirk won't want to stay. I agree with you and have said the same thing, Kirk is a nice guy that doesn't want to upset people, of course he's gonna say all the right things in front of fans lol. He's not coming back and he knows it. It sucks for us fans but we all need to start realizing a new QB will be here next season, probably a rookie starter.
