How Much Longer until the NFL no longer does the national anthem?
Just when this issue was losing steam Trump opens his fat trap and sends it into a spiral. So tired of it. Stand, kneel, fuck it lay down if you want. Who cares.

This. I see this as a protest of Trump more than anything. I'm sorry his little vagina is bruised over this. God, he's such a pussy.

I have two son in laws both in the service Army /Marines both deployed, one is in Baghdad and the other is in his third tour in Afghanistan.Marine a life long Redskin fan and the other a Rams fan.I see what they and their families endure and I get pissed off but both of those men would be the first to tell you that this is why they are there,so we at home can be safe and even protest if we need/or want too.

I think if simply a team would have signed Kap in the offseason we wouldn't be here, but Trump statement was so dumb. Now Im thinking it was planned out. Regardless the President shouldn't be calling anyone who peaceful protest an SOB.

The NFL store should sell kneeling pads with team logos printed on them.

What annoys me is the group of people that really think they are protesting the flag.

Yup, unfortunately there are always those that think it’s a black and white issue when it’s clearly not. |

Re: How Much Longer until the NFL no longer does the national anthem?
I think they're using that as an excuse so they don't have to say the real reason they dislike the protest, which is either A. because they don't care about it, or B. because they disagree that African Americans are treated differently by the cops. It's real convenient to say they're disrespecting veterans and the flag despite the fact that the majority of vets say the reason they fight is so you have the freedom to choose whether you want to sit or stand.

Re: How Much Longer until the NFL no longer does the national anthem?
I have no problem with anyone expressing their feelings professionally.
But as a veteran of the US Army, this past weekend's display of disrespect during what should be a pretty sacred act disgusts me. I turned the 'skins game on late & ended up watching the whole thing, not realizing some of my former beloved 'skins also decided to show their disrespect during the national anthem. There are so many better ways to express their causes..they all have Twitter. They all have ample money & access to media. But to choose to disrespect their own country's anthem- that's just inexcusable to me. To each his own, but I am "taking a knee on the NFL" for awhile...maybe forever. There are other things to do on Sunday and I will keep exploring the options to help fill the void. This will be my last post. I wish you all the best. |

Re: How Much Longer until the NFL no longer does the national anthem?
I'm not gonna rehash these ongoing arguments understand why kneeling for the anthem and not paying respect for the flag is disrespectful to military, Vets, general everyday folks who work long hours to serve and protect the country and their community...and is just generally anti-American ....then get out of you self serving bubble and get woke. Its easy to understand that folks who disrespect these symbols would garner anger towards them. And its not just vets, have you forgotten the global war on Islamic terrorist we are currently fighting...maybe speak to the victims of Boston, Fort Hood, Orlando and San Bernardino about that. Or maybe about to the active military along the 38th parallel in Korea who face a very real threat. We take a lot of things for granted. that's first.
Second, this protest has been very effective but the messaging from day 1 has been the issue. The clear message is "regardless of race or color all laws and justice should be equally applied to every American citizen. Equal treatment from enforcing agencies is demanded from the citizens of this country." Something along those lines. Kap and now others haven't established this clearly. Kap wearing the pig socks, the pussy Che shirt, not voting, supporting some questionable causes, saying some really ignorant shit...didn't really embody a positive message of awareness or change. A lot of blowback is because of him. Also from above, folks who say black on black crime this or that, either don't understand the protest or completely ignorant of it b/c that's not what this is about...I do think in a broader context of a bigger conversation there is merit but certainly not this conversation. Now...the President. One thing every American should be completely irate about is the President standing in Alabama (context counts in a state where racial injustice has a history) and cursing a citizen by calling him a SOB over what has been a peaceful protest. This is completely unacceptable and the unifying arm locks I thought was a great response by the teams of the NFL. We should all be appalled and the President should apologize. This was disgraceful.
