I think they're using that as an excuse so they don't have to say the real reason they dislike the protest, which is either A. because they don't care about it, or B. because they disagree that African Americans are treated differently by the cops. It's real convenient to say they're disrespecting veterans and the flag despite the fact that the majority of vets say the reason they fight is so you have the freedom to choose whether you want to sit or stand.

Pretty much, or they just change the subject and say something along the lines of "what about black on black crime?" It is annoying that people refuse to see it, but you cant teach an old dog new tricks.
