Meanwhile Stafford is the highest paid guy in the league and the Lions are 3-3 and he hasn't won a playoff game.

Right now I'd say the Redskins should let KC walk if he needs more than Stafford.

I can hardly believe that you and other poor souls still think the Redskins can sign a long-term deal with Kirk Cousins. It's too late for that. Snyder and Smithers blew that deal years ago when they hired one of the smartest player personnel executives in football and then rejected his advice to sign Cousins back then to what would now be an affordable long-term deal. Any future long-term deal for Kirk Cousins will not be affordable and it will not be with the Redskins.

If we can't sign him, I want to trade for Alex Smith for a year and draft a QB to sit behind him for a year.

The last thing we need to do is give up draft picks.

He only has 1 year left on his deal and he isn't starting there next year. Probably could get him for like a 4th. You can always trade down with one of your other picks to recoup any lost ones.

You're assuming that Cousins isn't going to be here. I'd say let that play itself out.

My original post said if we don't resign Cousins. This would be my backup plqn.
