Jay will probably be safe after we go 8-8 and it's hard to fire him after that

If the 'skins win next week, they finish with a 3 game win streak and finish at .500. I don't see how Gruden is gone unless he is traded.

Just like the redskins to win games we don't need to win and lose games we need to win. I watched the games this week and last week and those teams were horrible. We will probably win next week to put us farther down in the draft. Another average season and no playoffs.

8 - 8 feels a lot better than 4 - 12. At the beginning of the season most "experts" predicted we would finish in 3rd or 4th place. The predictions were any where from 4 -12 to 9 -7. With all of the injuries, most people outside of D.C would say an 8 - 8 season is a success.

Yeah I said 8-8 or 9-7 at best so I'll take it

Instead of a fire Jay Gruden thread, we should have a fire bill Callahan and tje special team coach thread. The running game has been a disaster with one all pro left tackle, pro bowl right guard and top 15 right tackle. The tight ends don't block and in most cases dont try.He is the running game coach and should be on the hot seat.

Agree 100% the biggest fault I have with Jay is calling plays where VD and Reed when healthy have a blocking assignment.

Reed tries and gets abused. VD has the tools but no interest.

They are both basically receivers.

People are waiting to hire coaches from our team, no one should be fired. We should be making better personnel decisions.

Scouting and coaches should be communicating to find players that best fit the scheme.
Keep the players that have been good for us.

Find a legit running back
A wide receiver that fits
Legit Left Guard
a Strong Safety
Etc.

1) I agree most of our coaches need to stay. But I wouldn't be mad to see a change at WR coach and Strength and conditioning !

2)I'd say we have a SS in Montae. IIRC he simply had a big concussion...

Re: By Popular Demand. Should the Skins FIRE Jay Gruden? Thread

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Redskins will retain Jay Gruden as head coach.
The Ringer's Mike Lombardi added that the Skins are in the process of trying to extend assistant coaches' contracts, an obvious implication that Gruden's job is safe. Per RapSheet, there is a "deep understanding" within the organization that Washington disappointed this year due in large part to an unlucky run of injuries. The Redskins can finish 8-8 if they beat the Giants in Week 17.

As expected

No big surprise, can’t blame the staff for the absurd amount of injuries. I really hope they take a hard look at the training staff and strength/conditioning programs.

Re: By Popular Demand. Should the Skins FIRE Jay Gruden? Thread

I agree Matty, training staff, strength + conditioning program, and WR coach are my top staff priorities for next year. I've been very unimpressed with our WR blocking this year, plus the development of our young guys has been unimpressive. Ike Hilliard can walk. S/N it will be the second time we got rid of Hilliard, he was also the WR coach here in 2012 and Shanny let him walk after the year. Not implying anything, just thought it was interesting.

Kowitca and Hilliard can take a hike, the team can do better.
